Small semiconductor supply spells slowdown on Switch stock

If you have been waiting to buy yourself a Nintendo Switch, you may want to get your order in now. In a report for IGN, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa warns customers that, even with an “immediate production of semiconductors,” there may be product shortages in the back half of 2021.

“But-a how will I play-a Bowser’s Fury now?”

Furukawa continues on to say, “In Japan and other countries, demand has been very strong since the beginning of the year, and there is a possibility of shortages at some retailers in the future… in some cases, we may not be able to prepare enough for orders.”

The lack of semiconductors hasn’t just affected Nintendo. The PS5 and Xbox Series X have had similar issues leading to small supply and frustration among consumers. In late February, the Biden administration signed an executive order to look into the supply chain and how it was affected by the pandemic.

This is unfortunately something out of Nintendo’s control. This comes hot off the heels of some great news for Nintendo due to their sales going through the roof in Europe, making it their second best-selling console of all time. On top of that, a recent study shows that it is the most eco-friendly console on the market. How nice.

Of course, you could always buy the Switch Lite, as those continue to sit on shelves. Anyone? No? Okay.
