Something not mentioned in last week’s Nintendo Direct but listed on the Nintendo Switch eShop is that Skyward Sword HD will also feature amiibo support. The listing for the Switch version of Miitopia, which was also announced during the Direct, confirms amiibo compatibility for that title as well.

Skyward Sword already has some amiibo representation thanks to the Zelda amiibo line released in 2017, so it is not that surprising that the remaster will support the feature. We have yet to learn what figures in particular will be compatible and what scanning them will do in the game, but it is nice to have some sort of confirmation that there is at least a bit more work put into this rerelease than fans may have initially thought.
Skyward Sword HD will be coming to Switch on July 16 of this year. The game will feature improved visuals and a new control scheme that eliminates the need to utilize motion controls for a variety of the game’s mechanics and makes it possible to use button inputs instead.
