This week, there have been lots of announcements regarding miHoYo’s Genshin Impact, a gacha-based, Breath of the Wild-style game. Here’s a quick round-up of what you might have missed.
How does the Theater Mechanicus work?
Genshin Impact’s latest release is the Theater Mechanicus tower defense event, which started on February 10, 2021. In order to access the event, you need to finish the entirety of Xiao’s “Origin of the Lanterns” event and one Liyue Theater Mechanicus quest. This will give you the first three stages. To get the fourth through sixth, you’ll need to complete the “Guests Flock from Afar” and “Glow of a Thousand Lanterns” quests. It’s a pretty basic tower defense that gives you better rewards based on the difficulty. The event nets you Peace Talismans that can be used to get a new ally. The event ends on February 28, 2021.

Xiao Lantern Crafting Materials
In order to join in on the fun of Theater Mechanicus, you’ll need to craft lanterns. Luckily, miHoYo shared the materials needed. The three materials are Lantern Fiber (made from plants), a Plaustrite Shard (from ore outcrops), and Wick Material (from Hilichurls and Fatui elite enemies). Each run at Theater Mechanicus requires a lantern, so make sure you make a lot!

Explore Teyvat with Amber
A new video on the official Genshin Impact YouTube channel features Amber, one of the first characters players are likely to receive. Join her on her travels throughout Teyvat, including different segments with Xiao and Beidou.
Xiao concept art released
Xiao is one of the more recent additions to the Genshin Impact roster — however, according to recent concept art from miHoYo, Xiao was actually one of the first characters designed. There is a ton of information released with the art including Xiao’s Daoist origins, his masks, and so much more.

Fan builds a detailed model of Liyue Harbor
A Chinese fan of Genshin Impact created an extremely detailed model of Liyue Harbor. According to the creator, it took over 1,000 hours to build and it definitely shows! Check it out over on bilibili.
Genshin Impact Nendoroids are in the works
Good Smile Company announced two Genshin Impact figures for its Nendoroid line. As of right now, the only toys in development are Aether and Lumine, the main characters. Of course, more are likely to be announced.
New wallpapers available for download
There are several high-quality Genshin Impact wallpapers available on miHoYo’s website. There feature Venti, QiQi, Xiangling, and the travelers. They are already a hit among the Zelda Universe staff. According to editor Reece Heather, “Venti owo.” That’s really all that needs to be said.
