A documentary series called Playing with Power: The Nintendo Story will premiere on the video streaming platform Crackle on March 1, 2021. Directed by Video Games: The Movie’s Jeremy Snead and executive produced and narrated by The Lord of the Rings‘ Sean Astin, the five-episode series will explore Nintendo’s fascinating history and might give us a closer look at how important developments within the company have occurred throughout the years.
It will feature interviews with popular entertainment figures such as Wil Wheaton and Alison Haislip, as well as video game industry household names like Nintendo of America’s former president Reggie Fils-Aimé and head of Xbox Phil Spencer.
“Producing and directing Playing with Power has been a lifelong ambition of mine as an artist, gamer and filmmaker,” Snead explained. “To see my show not only come to life with such loving care through my team and I’s efforts but to also have the opportunity to partner with such a talented and experienced team like Screen Media and Crackle to release the series to the public has just been a dream come true.”
Given the talent behind the project, this documentary is sure going to be something to keep an eye on, especially if you’re a video game history enthusiast.
