Top 10 Most delicious-looking Zelda enemies
Breath of the Wild‘s Link has an important skill that sets him apart from his previous incarnations: cooking. Every other Link in the Zelda series is subjected to a diet consisting mostly of potions and milk, with the occasional bottle of soup if he happens to have a loving grandma. This begs the question of what these heroes eat when their world seemingly has little to offer in the way of food.
One such solution, inspired by Brian David Gilbert’s video “Pokémon Edibility,” is for Link to chow down on one of the many enemies he encounters on his journey. In a world where the only source of protein turns into an invincible and feathery force of destruction when attacked, eating the enemies he encounters may just be Link’s best option.
10. Pesto – The Minish Cap

These insectoid enemies that Link fights while shrunken down to the size of a Minish share a name with a delicious, basil-based sauce. Despite their name likely being a pun on the word “pest” and their fly-like appearance, it is hard not to imagine them tasting great when spread on a sandwich.
Even if they do not taste like pesto, many bugs are still edible and consumed regularly by people around the world. Many bugs are ground up into a fine powder and made into insect flour, pasta, and even burgers. The bright colors of the Pesto enemies make them look a little more appetizing than normal flies, though Blue Pesto should be avoided since they carry around mounds of dirt.
9. Peahats – A Link Between Worlds

The cartoony graphics of A Link Between Worlds make some enemies look so much more appetizing than the pixelated enemies found in A Link to the Past. Peahats are no exception to this upgrade, now resembling a ripe barrel cactus or a prickly pear cactus that can also fly. These types of cacti are edible, but typically, only their fruit would be eaten.
Should Link actually want to eat a Peahat, he would have to hope that they managed to sprout fruit while waiting to impede his journey to save Hyrule. However, while not a great source of water, the prickly pear and barrel cacti are one of the few cacti that can provide water in a pinch if stranded in a desert.
8. Puffstools – Cadence of Hyrule

The musical world of Cadence of Hyrule provides Link with a new addition to his menu: fungi. While strange mushrooms should be avoided, these Puffstools seem to be safe for human consumption, as the thickness of their stems and the shape of their caps resemble Pleurotus eryngii, or the king trumpet mushroom. In fact, these mushrooms are actually quite delicious when cooked.
Though, Link should primarily stick to the normal variety of Puffstool, as the purple and black variations appear to be both poisonous and are more dangerous to approach.
7. Zols – Link’s Awakening

The Link’s Awakening‘s remake has created more delicious looking enemies in the form of Zols and Gels. Zols look like they are made of gummy candy and come in two bright colors. Their bright red and green coloring makes them look like they could taste like cherry and green apple jellybeans.
These enemies are typically not difficult to defeat and Red Zols split into two smaller gels when attacked, enhancing their candy-like appearance. While not the most nutritious meal, they may provide Link with a nice pick-me-up while exploring harsh dungeons. Even heroes deserve a little candy sometimes.
6. ChuChus – The Wind Waker

ChuChus are one of the known edible enemies in the Zelda series, since several games allow for their gooey bodies to be made into potions. However, their medicinal qualities mean nothing when The Wind Waker‘s ChuChus look like sentient piles of jelly.
Similar to Zols and Gels, ChuChus come in many different colors that look like they may have different flavors. There is also a greater variety of colors for ChuChus, making them just barely above Zols and Gels in terms of looking delicious. All Nintendo needs to do now is include an enemy that looks like peanut butter and Link can enjoy a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
5. Bullbo – Spirit Tracks

Unlike the pigs in The Wind Waker, which share Cuccos’ invincibility, Bullbos can be defeated quite easily. Their appearance suggests that they are based on wild boars, and their name hints at being based on bulls as well. Whatever animal they are actually based on, Bullbos are some of the best sources of protein for Link in Spirit Tracks, so he should be able to enjoy some Bullbo bacon if he gets the chance.
Though, Bullbos do bring up the question of how a certain final boss who also looks like a boar might taste.
4. Pols Voice – Phantom Hourglass

While Pols Voices are described as ghosts in the Zelda series, they closely resemble rabbits with their large ears and whiskers. While it may be upsetting to think about eating a cute little rabbit, they are perfectly edible when cooked. The benefit to eating the Pols Voices in Phantom Hourglass is their sheer size which would likely provide a lot of meat.
The other appeal to these Pols Voices is their incredibly squishy bodies. Their movements are almost reminiscent of pudding which only adds to how delicious they look, especially if they were drizzled with a nice chocolate sauce.
3. Lobarrier – Spirit Tracks

Lobarriers are an easy enemy to consider food due to their close resemblance to crabs. Once their stone claw is removed, they are an easy target to defeat provided they do not escape too easily. The other benefit to eating Lobarrier would be how common they are to find in the Ocean Realm, making them an extremely accessible food source.
These crab-like enemies would not be an easy meal to have on the go, since crab meat is quite hard to remove from the shell, and the claw is covered with rocks which adds to the challenge. Regardless, Lobarrier would probably be one of the most delicious enemies to eat should Link have the time to season them with Old Bay and serve them with a side of butter.
2. Octoroks – The Minish Cap

The CD-i Link may have been onto something when he said “I’m so hungry, I could eat an Octorok!” As their name suggests, Octoroks look like octopi in most games, though they occupy both land and sea.
What makes the Octoroks from The Minish Cap seem the most delicious variant of Octorok is their round shape. They could easily be incorporated into takoyaki, which is a Japanese street food consisting of octopus tentacles rolled up into a ball of flour and cooked in a special pan. Imagining these little, round Octoroks as delicious takoyaki is enough to make one’s mouth water.
1. Snurglar – Spirit Tracks

The Snurgle and Snurglar enemies in Spirit Tracks, aside from having the best names, are some of the most appetizing enemies in the whole series. In particular, Snurglars look the most appealing since they are both larger than the more common Snurgle and their bright red bodies look way more appetizing.
One of the main issues with Snurglars is that their appearances have very little basis in reality, which ironically makes them the most fun to theorize about. Since their wings do most of the physical labor, leaving their large bodies quite large and fat. The meat that could be gained from Snurglars sounds like it would be the most tender meat in all of Hyrule.
