With its pixel style and feel of 2D Legend of Zelda games, The Girl from Arkanya is a top-down treasure hunting RPG that we can get behind. The game was successfully funded on Kickstarter within a day, smashing an initial $10,000 goal to earn $43,453 as of writing, with 1,381 backers.
Set in 1167 A.D., The Girl from Arkanya is the tale of young adventurer Marisa who originates from within Amazonia. Traveling with her capybara companion Kapi, Marisa desires to become the world’s greatest treasure hunter. Players will switch between both characters to solve puzzles and overcome challenges.
Arkanya Games has also been working on the Arkanya soundtrack. Listen to one of their newest releases below or via their official YouTube channel, which features five songs in total.
While The Girl From Arkanya does not yet have a release date, a progress update shared via Kickstarter on January 26, 2021 describes implementing co-op, exciting changes to their first dungeon, and overall game lighting system/visual updates. Volunteer backers will also have an opportunity to partake in upcoming limited testing of the first dungeons.
The Girl from Arkanya will be released on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Steam, and Itch.io.
