Breath of the Wild NPCs use the same coding as Miis

Fans have been constantly uncovering secrets surrounding The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild since its release in March 2017. This time around, a Twitter user by the name of HeyImHeroic has discovered something pretty odd.

NPCs in Breath of the Wild are generated through the use of an advanced version of the Mii format. This means that, through the power of modding, you can inject your own creations into the game.

Apparently, the coding is modified to allow the game to display Mii faces onto its characters. As seen in the tweet above, you can import random characters such as Barret from Final Fantasy VII. This has probably opened the doors for new mods taking advantage of this discovery, and it probably also means that we’ll see many more strange creations to come. I won’t be surprised if Thomas the Tank Engine’s face ends up on a Breath of the Wild NPC soon.

HeyImHeroic is thinking about opening commissions for Mii injections, so we’ll keep you posted with the latest information. This means that even your Mii could become a character in the game. How neat is that?!
