Yuga’s Art Gallery: A Breath of the Wild (Korok Forest)

Anytime I see anything Korok-related, I can’t help but smile. What makes them so darn cute?! Aside from their design, I think it’s their playful nature and admiration of Link. They make me want to abandon my duties and spend all day in the Korok forest, playing with and taking care of them. So, naturally, I really enjoy this piece of art, ‘A breath of the wild‘, by vashperado, and wanted to share it with you all.

Celebration of the Wild is a month-long celebration of the anniversary of this beloved game. All month long we will be picking our favorite songs, fan works, places, memories, and more of this wonderful addition to the Zelda series. Breath of the Wild has revolutionized the franchise all for the better and it’s only suiting we take this month to celebrate its achievements.

a breath of the wild korok forest by vashperado

Vashperado’s art style is lovely – the fine line work and expertly blended colours give so much definition to the characters. Honestly, it looks like it could be straight out of an official Zelda manga! Everything is drawn to perfection: the cute little Koroks, Hestu towering behind them, Link’s pose and expression, and the way the forest frames the picture. I also love the way vashperado has drawn subtle dewdrops to portray the light shower of rain. The rain could have easily overwhelmed the drawing or looked unnatural if not done right, but vashperado has nailed the balance.

Link is drawn especially well. He’s looking rather adventurous (and muscular, I must say!) in his climbing gear, yet also very content kneeling down to cover the little Korok from rain. This gesture reminds us of just how caring the hero of Hyrule is – no act of kindness is too small for him.

I hope you all enjoy this piece as much as I do! It’s another wonderful example of what gives Breath of the Wild so much charm.
