Zelda: A Link to The Past No Damage Challenge

Okay! After posting in a thread about which Zelda game I can beat the fastest, I have decided to try and do the no damage challenge in ALtTP. I will be using VBA for the recording device included with it for the simple fact that I don't have a reliable, physical camera. Also, I will use the GBA ROM of the game. I will not however beat the four sword dungeon. I don't count that as part of ALtTP only because it wasn't in the SNES version of the game. During the video, I will have a little video of another file showing that I am not using any cheats. What that means is I will load that file, show I am not using any cheats by getting hit, and then I will save that file and go back to the file select screen where I will then start a new game. That way there won't be any breaks in the video. That'll keep the skeptical critics from saying I'm cheating. I don't think Youtube allows any video over 15 minutes so I will have to make the video in segments. Which I will make it into segments after it has been deemed legit by a trustworthy person among ZU. If I could get a person to volunteer in deeming it legit after reviewing the video, that would be awesome. =] A mod would be a fair person when it comes to that so hopefully I can get a mod but anyone will do really. As long as they're trusted among the community. =]

Do any of you have anything to add to the terms of this challenge???

I know I may sound stupid saying all of this but I just want to make sure I get this right the first time and also I just want enjoy the game.

Sorry but I didn't know what to put it under since it is a challenge thread. XD So I just put it in the General Zelda section instead of the SNES section. I'll be more than happy to have it moved to the appropriate place. =]

MOD REQUEST!!!

This is the only game I can possibly do this in. I've never done it before but that's because I do stupid things just because the game isn't a challenge to me and I end up getting hit just because I try to do new things. XD (Just to make it fun. =p).

Anyways, I can get all the way to the sixth dungeon in the dark world without getting hit. Once I get in there, I usually get hit because I'm trying to rush through the level. Misery Mire is my most hated dungeon of that game. XD

[EDIT]Thanks to those that are wishing me luck. ^_^ It's good to see that people are interested and are supporting me. ^_^[/EDIT]

good luck, if you do indeed are able to do with, then maybe you should combine it with a Minimalist and Speed Rush run through as well.

Re: Zelda: A Link to The Past No Damage Challenge

I know that game front to back but even i cannot do a "No Damage Challenge."
Its far too difficult if not impossible to get hit unless you spam Cane of Byrna all the time, but even still you really cant get that until you get to the Dark World.

Yeah, I just figured since I love this game and I play it all the time I could at least have a chance. =] Seriously, when my friend asked me how to beat a stage, I asked him what the surrounding bad guys were and how many there were and just from knowing how many bad guys are where, I knew where he was and then I told him how many screens to go through and where the bad guys will be when he goes to the next screens. Basically, you can call me a walking, breathing, and talking walkthrough. XD
And I actually never use the Cane of Byrna. I get it but I never use it. XD I usually just use the cape until my magic is gone. =]

And TWO more things I need to mention. I need a volunteer to watch my video all the way through and to approve it as being legit. And I also need everyone to note that I am going to be gone tomorrow due to me having to go take a physical for the Air Force. I won't be back until Thursday afternoon. =/ So yeah. I won't be able to start on the video until Thursday afternoon. =[ But I will be practicing the whole time ^_^.

Re: Zelda: A Link to The Past No Damage Challenge

Cane of Byrna (if i recall) actually damages enemies you come in contact with. You could use both Cape and Cane alternately to avoid damage at all possible.

Also good luck with Air Force! Its bloody hard to get in there what with vision restrictions and the like!

Yeah, it does hurt bad guys and I used to do that but I got tired of switching so now I just stay with the cape. =] Also, thanks for wishing me luck with the Air Force thing. I should be good with all the test things they do. =] At least I hope. They're shipping me out to Columbia, SC and I'll spend all of tomorrow at a hotel. Then Thursday I'll be taking the physical all day and I'll be back home around 5:00 Thursday afternoon. =p

Re: Zelda: A Link to The Past No Damage Challenge

Good luck! On both things.
I am looking forward to seeing the vids.
I'd offer myself to deem it legit, but I'm not exactly a trustworthy person in ZU (yet)... and it might take me a long time to finish watching the whole thing... depending on how much you upload per day.
I'll be watching anyways, so good luck! I've done a few minimalist runs, but no damage is certainly out of my league.

Re: Zelda: A Link to The Past No Damage Challenge

Okay!!! I'm back from MEPS and I'm officially sworn into the Air Force. I have a contract for 4 years. Nothing big. Just something that'll give me a taste of it and If I like it after four years, I'll reenlist. Now I can finally do the Challenge that this thread was started from. =]

Anyways, before I do that, let me share my experience at MEPS. Basically, think of a DMV and then think of hell as a DMV. Now multiply that by how many retards are working there. Now divide by five and you get MEPS. It was the single most bull♥♥♥♥ thing I've ever had to go through. I woke up at 3:30AM Went and ate a tiny breakfast and then I got on the shuttle. The shuttle took like 40 minutes to get to the MEPS base and when we got there, we waited for an hour before we got our paperwork. Yadda Yadda Yadda go take a Physical Yadda Yadda do a duck walk. All in all, I was at this place for 14 hours straight. =/ Sitting down and getting up over and over again.
Yeah, this place was hell. Anyways, I'm done and I'm happy to be home. However, I can't wait to get out into basic training.

Re: Zelda: A Link to The Past No Damage Challenge

This post is just an update on this whole challenge thing. Just so everyone knows that I'm not slacking off. =p

I can't get the recorder to work properly so the sound will just have to stay lagging. After all, all I have to do is prove I can do it......... Easier said than done....... >_<
With the recorder lagging the game, it's far more difficult......... I've already started over like 17 times due to the game locking up and then starting again randomly. XD I'll get it though...... I'm still looking for a better screen recorder.
Also, I've been practicing the Moldorm fight....... =] I can now beat him the majority of the time without getting hit off the platform. ^_^ Usually I just get lucky and I don't get hit by him. But since I've practiced, I've noticed an increase in my win ratio. =]
