Link Talked?!

In AoL near the beginning you have to find a mirror for a lady and when link finds it the screen says "I found a mirror under the table" Obviously link is talking. Is this the only time he talks in the whole zelda series?

Yep. I saw it too. xD

Actually, that isn't the only time he's said words. In WW, link actually yells out "Come On!" when he calls for the statures in the Tower of the Gods dungeon.

He also says

"LOOKS LIKE
I CAN GET
IN THE
FIREPLACE."

And he says Yes and No a lot

It looks like it's more in his thoughts rather than talking to himself.

And true about WW. Don't forget that he yells all the time, he can't have a hard time talking.

Plus you have CD-i.

lol looks like link is a man of few words...very very few word.

He also says "Hey" in FSA...and he also has a bajillion talk option commands in OoT, MM, TWW and TP.

I never knew that! Having a sentence is way different from the shouts from WW. I mean, of course he can talk, and we just don't see the exact words he says most of the time, because its usually obvious and showing it would serve no purpose, and would be kind of... cheesey, imo. Besides, if he were actually mute, people in the games would know what he was saying/asking, and would somehow acknowledge his lack of words.

Also, another note of him speaking in WW, well not really speach, but none the less Link makes cat noises in WW. On Windfall, when you have to sneak up on that girl, to get that bottle from the safe.

Every once in a while, Link has nonstandard yes/no answers available, but Zelda II is the only game where he talked without being directly prompted by the player.

to me when it gives you the yes or no option i always took it as him thinking and then nods like in the WW.

The only ones I ever noticed were in the first two, cuz they were the only ones i played for such a long time :'(

Well he also has other options such as "No Way", "I don't believe you", and not to mention when he asks questions, like "Tell me about the bomb flowers" when talking to the Goron in OoT. And in WW he asks the Deku tree about the forest water, King of Red Lions and other things. It would be kinda hard to say any of those things without talking.


Besides, if you played WW, then you would know that he says "Come On!"

How can you forget OoT, upon first meeting Zelda, he responds: "...Link" when she asks him what his name is. Completely on his own. I think that was it, though.

Link wasnt talking there, that was Zelda.

Generally in OoT anything that Link says shows up in green font. such as "Yes" "No" "I'm looking for a sage" "Nothing really" "Just here to see the temple" "I hate Ganondorf" "What if I am?" etc...etc.

So It's okay to assume Link said "...Link" to Zelda. And even if that was her saying "...Link" he would've had to tell her his name before she could repeat it. =\

Yep, Link tells her his name, because she says something like "yes, that name sounds familiar" indicating that Link told her his name

^ plus the fact that she asked what his name was

Link can talk if he must, just leave the V.A. out of the Zelda world.
