That game annoys the hell out of me. Mostly how you find monsters. I find myself just leveling up on slime for hours to try and make getting to the dungeons easier. I however love the feel of the dungeons (though they are hard).

Re: Is Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link easy for anyone?

AoL is absolutely the most challenging game in the series. And because of this, I found it to be the most rewarding. The game can get frustrating, but if you take your time and level up and don't try to rush through you'll be able to handle it. Very very difficult......but not impossible.

It isn't as hard as people make it out to be, but it's still a very challenging game. That, of course, makes it extremely rewarding. Expect to have a difficult yet fun time with this game, and when you beat it, expect to feel very rewarded. Yup, this game's one of the hardest ones I've played.

Re: Is Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link easy for anyone?

ya I guess it can be pretty fun. but I just hate it when a lil bot jumps and hits me right into the lava. and those horse heads are extremely annoying, they knock me into pits everytime. I like how its an rpg where you level up, makes me wanna train all day getting exp.

Re: Is Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link easy for anyone?

it is the most difficult.
its a cult following game sort of because of that.
and because its so different.
you just have to learn each enemies movements and where and when you can stab and kill them.
especially those knight dudes with swords and shields.
sometimes you have to face like 3 of them in a row with 1 bar of life....ugggghhh!!!
*breath* they can be annoying but once you learn their ways by way of practice....
they are cake.

Re: Is Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link easy for anyone?

I actually like that game quite a lot, even if it really could be improved in many ways. Mainly in terms of not starting from the beginning every single time, but from the beginning of the dungeon or some such. The levelling system could also use a lot of work, it's really clunky and badly set up.

also no maps

On the other hand, it really does have the best action in the entire series, so that automatically secures it a very stable seat in the series.

Yeah, only the last dungeon does that so that's there somewhat. The game is 22 years old, the leveling didn't look so clunky then than it is now to today's generations.

The only part I found challenging was the last dungeon(mostly getting to it). It was just really annoying to get to. They should have put in a shortcut once you got to the dungeon.

That's kinda of true, but considering that Dragon Quest was already out, which had a much more traditional leveling system, not to mention just about every table-top rpg created the last decades (those things are old, mind you), I just feel that it could have been much closer to the inspirations it drew from. Nothing really stands against that, other than just innovation, I guess. And that innovation just...went awry.

When your just walking around the main map, those retarded, useless, pathetic and un-necessary black ball objects follow you and you cant really dodge them. That is just one RADICULOUS part of this sudo abortion of a game. The atari 2600 game asteroids is better than TAOL.

There are two timelines(Child timeline and adult timeline) and one extra parallel world(as we see in LA(Koholint),MM(Termina) and PH(Oshus world). It's possible to get (e.g.) from the Child Timeline to Adult timeline by passing another portal that leads to whatever(LoZ for example).

Leveling in D&D was/is an asspain.
Dragon Warrior (yeah i call it that because im american) was pretty damn clunky if i remember correctly. (all that text )
Also Zelda 2's leveling wasnt that bad at all really. The game tried to incorperate real time fighting because it was Zelda, and traditional rpg elements. It was actually fine for the time and I never had any issues with it.

Re: Is Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link easy for anyone?

Zelda II is the hardest and yet the most rewarding.

The game is much easier with an emulator and savestates. That way you can start from the beginning of the dungeon rather than having to begin all the way at the castle.

I could never beat the first boss. I thought it was at least fun though.

Re: Is Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link easy for anyone?

For me, that game was definitely not easy. It took me about one week to beat it. Now if anyone thinks that is a good time, it wasn't. I would play for about 12 hours a day. So in total it took me about 84 hours.

Personally I would have to say that the hardest boss/es was the Knight, and the Pheonix. Dark Link was so easy. I just stood all the way on the left and just kept hitting the A button. Never got hurt. Most annoying aspect of the game, definitely would be starting from the beginning each time you die. Especially when you are almost to the last temple, and then you lose your last life.

So, no, AoL is difficult, and for me the most difficult Zelda game. But you need to remember, it was only difficult, because of the limitations of games back then. You couldn't really do as much as now (obviously).
