ALttP = Ridiculously Hard

There, I said it! Some of you are probably laughing at me right now and thinking I'm a noob, and in fact maybe I am, but I just wanna say that this game's difficulty is, in my opinion, underrated.

I mean really, the game owns me every minute! I just came from the Skull Dungeon and beat Mothula after a billion tries, and now I'm in the thief's hideout and I just can't progress because there are so many enemies that do so much damage! That's probably why I'm still there after playing the game for a couple of weeks already (though not constantly). I mean it's actually pretty fun getting owned, but some times it just gets tedious.

I've played every Zelda game except for the original LoZ, LA, FS and FSA, and ALttP is by far THE hardest Zelda game there is out of the ones I've played.

Is there at least one person who agrees?

You're saying that ALttP is harder than Zelda II: Adventure of Link?

Wow... that's almost hard to believe.

ALTTP is not so hard, just when you get hurt you lose half heart
and when you get hurt by a boss you lose 2 heart it's sick that's the way I think is hard

Hmm...I never really found it that hard. I thought LA's difficulty was worse xp but perhaps that was because i played LA before ALLTP. And AoL is wayyyyyy more difficult :O!

sounds like you need to go look for more heart pieces and carry more bottles/fairies.

In what way? The only part in AoL that's harder than what I've played from ALttP so far is the Great Palace.

i didn't find it hard when i first played it on my gba, but i tried again a few months ago, and i sucked, couldn't get further than the sanctuary. 3d has spoiled me

I did find it very hard, but compared to ALttP...you know.

I remember being stuck in the Tower of Hera for six months, due to me not putting two and two together and seeing that you could move the holes in the floors on the floor above the Moon Pearl.

After that...yeah. It kind of stopped being hard. Also...that was back when I was 11.

ALttP used to be pretty hard for me when I was younger, but..I guess the same could be said for any game I played back then.

Nowadays, the game is still reasonably hard, simply for how much damage the enemies cause...but even then, the Cane of Byrna pretty much destroys any shred of difficulty there is in the game. I take it you haven't found it yet?

AoL isn't that hard provided you do a decent amount of grinding. I find that many people get stuck on AoL simply because they just advance straight away like you would in an ordinary Zelda, and hence, get owned. AoL was the first game (and Zelda game) I played, if not owned, so I grew up with knowing how it works, and if you play it the way it is meant to be played, it really isn't that difficult.

aLttP does have some fairly difficult points, but once you acquire the medallions, it becomes much easier - magic can help you out of some really difficult situations. Also, don't go charging into battles - corners are your ally. Hiding behind one and stabbing the hell out anything that comes near is a good way to kill enemies, as is making a bomb trail - running around leaving bombs everywhere, which can cause massive damage to enemies. If you think aLttP is hard, you should try the fanhack Parallel Worlds - you don't even get the sword until halfway through the first dungeon.

ALttP is really easy. Don't get what's hard.

On the other hand... AoL is the hardest game to ever have been released, in my opinion... and you didn't find it hard compared to ALttP?

Of course, grinding makes it easier... But the whole challenge is beating the game without grinding like hell ^^

I wouldn't call it hard, but I'm not calling the game easy either. I do remember as a kid that I just gave up because it was to hard for me. But when I play it now I don't have to many problems. I'd say the difficulty is well balanced.

AlttP used to be hard. But I play it so much it is really easy now. Easier then Zelda 1 and 2 for me. But OoT is still easier and Zelda 2 being the hardest with MM as second hardest ^^

Really now? I thought MM was about average difficulty, but mainly because it's 3d and 3d games are easier compared to 2d games imo.

Link to the Past is just the right difficulty level; it's not quite as frustrating as Adevnture of Link or other ungodly difficult NES games, but it's certainly way more challenging than any of the 3D games. It requires greater reflexes and timing to avoid getting hit by bosses and enemies, and the puzzles aren't obvious because, at the time, they were original.

I've been grinding as much as I can, and I still have a lot of trouble.
