Best of the Classics?

Just wondering, if you had to pick a favorite - well, the game that you have the most love for - of the classic Zelda, meaning LOZ through LA, what game would it be?

For me, it would have to be....uh...Link's Awakening, just because of the whole atmosphere of the game, too much love to describe in this forum, but thats me.

Re: Best of the Classics?

Hands down LoZ!! I spent so many hours back in the day on the NES just wandering around hoping to find stuff. I still play both quests quite frequently and know the game inside and out. It was/is/will always be my favorite game.
AoL and ALttP are right behind it though.

Re: Best of the Classics?

Legend of Zelda is a really fun game, and Adventure of Link has some of the greatest action in the series (I actually place it above LoZ) but A Link to the Past is just too amazing. Definitely the top of the three.

Then I remember that you're talking about the first four games.

Link's Awakening is seriously the second to third best game of all time.

Re: Best of the Classics?

Definitely A Link to the Past. I remember wandering hopelessly wondering how to get just the first pendant when I was 5. Then when I finally got it after a couple weeks I was so thrilled.

A Link to the Past is my favorite. It was my first Zelda game and everything about it amazed me.

Re: Best of the Classics?

There was a thread with a poll asking which was the best between LoZ, AoL, and ALttP. I believe ALttP won.

Oh, and, ALttP = best in the entire series.

Re: Best of the Classics?

I'd probably go with Alttp. It was really fun and had a lot of cool ideas in it. It also introduced the heart pieces which are pretty much a necessity to any Zelda gamer. Unless you're Chuck Norris. He can beat the entire game with 3 hearts.

Re: Best of the Classics?

ALttP without a doubt. A classic everyone has played and loved. Great music, great temples, great bosses.
LA is great too, but I doubt it's counted in this thread since it belongs in the Handheld cathegory.

Re: Best of the Classics?

Do the CD-I games count? because they rocked!

Hey, wait a moment....no they sucked.

Adventure of Link, not only challenging but a nice twist on the series considering I played the two N64 Zeldas first then worked my way down.

Re: Best of the Classics?

ALTTP took everything that made the original LOZ a classic and expanded on it. It was just out and out better just like comparing the SNES to the NES. ALTTP definitely had an edge with original following close behind.
