What would you subtitle the original LOZ?

As we all know, every Zelda game has a subtitle; i.e. "Ocarina of Time" or "Link's Awakening" or "Twilight Princess." The only one that doesn't have one is of course the original; it's simply called "The Legend of Zelda." Well since every Zelda game dons "The Legend of Zelda" in the title along with a subtitle related to a core piece of the game's plot, then what kind of subtitle can you give to the original Legend of Zelda?

Triforce of Wisdom. Works for me if I'd ever put one on it. Not that I'd ever would. It was the original. However, George Lucas renamed the original Star Wars movie. So it is possible

I still don't see how people think the title ALttP pertains to the plot. Especially since NoA only named it that because "it sounded cool". The original Japanese title (Triforce of the Gods), however, fits perfectly.

On topic: I would probably give it it's original Japanese title: The Hyrule Fantasy. I don't know where the English name Legend of Zelda came from, but not only is it the name for the legend of AoL's backstory, it also is the official logo in Japan as well (with the Japanese equivalent written underneath).

Not recently, no. But there have been debates in the past on why it was called ALttP like it was the real title and this just reminded me of it. That's why it was in my off-topic half of my post.

Part of the reason, or most of it, that NoA changed it was to remove unwanted religious elements from the title. If they didn't, it wouldn't have sold nearly as well.

Yes, I know that, but most people don't. They think ALttP was the original title and then try to link it to the games story somehow, when in reality, NoA only picked that name because "it sounded cool."

But we're getting way of topic here, so we should either stop or take this to PMs.

Wow, I would totally prefer the franchise to be called, "The Hyrule Fantasy," over, "The Legend Of Zelda." It would work in so many ways that the current one can not.

Lolz, it might seem a little OCD, but I think it would be well balanced, and could be a part of a self-series, such as OoX.

If I absolutely HAD to give it a subtitle, it would be either, "The Legend Of Zelda: The Triforce," or, "The Legend Of Zelda: The Triforce Of Wisdom." (I would choose those names IF they left the title as, "The Hyrule Fantasy," and would have to apply a subtitle after it.)

However, since they changed it over to, "The Legend Of Zelda," I would choose:

The Legend Of Zelda: A Hyrule Fantasy

This is really a hard but interesting question. I think it is best that LoZ has no subtitle.

Because the original title is ザハイルールファンタシー ゼルダの伝説〈The Hyrule fantasy: The Legend of Zelda). I wouldn't give it a new sub title, it doesn't need one.

"The legend of zelda " title have only one meaning:

The title talks about the legend of the sleeping princess zelda.

Ahh, Zelda II... The only Zelda game that doesn't have the title, "The Legend Of Zelda", in it, even though that game is about the actual legend of Zelda. The irony.

The games from the beginning should have been called, "The Legend Of Link".

I believe The Legend of Zelda sounds a little cooler as the game series name. If I were to sub name the fist, it would be The Legend of Zelda: The Hyrule Fantasy, as Triforce of God's suggested.

I know. And that's my point.

It may not have been the origonal intended Title, but I think it does fit just fine regardless, because the game is Constantly talking about the events that happened before, form the Imprisoning War to the origin of The Dark World, to how Gannon got the Triforce, and how the Prophecy comes into play.

Plus it works as a Pun.

Besides Hyrule has goddesses not gods, and they barely come up in any in game Dialogue if at all.

Back on topic there is no need to Subtitle the original it has no real plot to provide one anyway.

On a side not I feel like randomly mentioning here what I name the 2 Zelda movies I"m currently writing scrips for in my head.

The Legend of Zelda: The Sword of Evil's Bane
The Legend of Zelda: The World of Darkness

As I said in the movie topic they largely follow ALttP but do take countless things from other games as well.

Only the 1st one's set in stone, I may change the 2nd.

I honestly am not too sure. I'm not very good with thinking of creative names for games. Maybe it should be left alone as it is.

Well come to think of it, most Loz is subtitled with the games main item, so Triforce of Wisdom makes the most sense.

If the main title of the series was The Hyrule Fantasy, then it would make LA, MM, OoX, PH, and possibly TWW seem off. Though games like LA and MM already seem a bit off, since they have nothing to do with Zelda.

A subtitle with the word Hyrule might have been good for the original game. Maybe also The Shards of Wisdom.

Maybe the main title for the series should be Legend of Link, since he's the only constantly reoccuring character.

On topic: I agree with Triforce of the Gods- The Legend of Zelda: the Hyrule Fantasy sounds really cool.
