Re: Multiplayer Legend of Zelda

Isn't the NES hardware really limited? Wouldn't the SNES one be easier, despite the more advanced coding?

Re: Multiplayer Legend of Zelda

What about making it run stand-alone as its own program?
If you made it into a rom, I don't see how many people would be able to play the multiplayer.

This was one idea. The multiplayer would work fine on a multiple NES system link, but that's near impossible. ALTTP was what my next goal was, but I'm seeing more and more that the original wouldn't make a decent multipayer. Also, the nes has a very small mapper which means not much space. If it's okay with everyone, I'm switching the project over to the LTTP gba rom.

You don't need to okay it with us if you're going to switch games or such, especially this earlier in the process. It's your project, and we're just supporters wanting it to go well.

Whatever game you're going to work on doesn't matter to me. As previously stated, it's your project, so do what you wish.

Re: Multiplayer Legend of Zelda

I think two players is all that would be necessary. Four players might get too cramped, and there's not much hearts or rupees to be shared with four players. (Unless you add more hearts, including extra heart containers. The least you could do is share/split the heart containers.)

It's an awesome idea that I've often thought about myself, as the game is VERY difficult, even if with two/four players.

PS: He never asked for our approval, so what y'all talk'n 'bout?

Thanks. It is nice to know that there are supporters out there. Extra props to the light hero. Light and Darkness rule! But enough of that. I do intend to share the maximum health bar. I'm programing in c# now, and due to a lack of compilers, I will make it a stand-alone progam. I just started writing, so once again, this will take some time. My older brother is writing his own game, but it looked rather cheap. If this project turns out the same way, I'll probably kill myself(joke). But honestly I'll try workng with it. If I get LTTP going decent, I may do level hacks to make it look like the original. Or maybe not. We'll see. Once again, thanks for your support, everyone!

Re: Multiplayer Legend of Zelda

C#, huh? I've always been interested in that language. Personally, I use C++. I love it. Right now I'm making a text-based card game with it.

Tell me, what else have you done with your coding skills.

Re: Multiplayer Legend of Zelda

c# isn't all that difficult. I have yet to write anything worth while, though. I made a program that starts like a pokemon game, then rick rolls the user. It's not too complex and was sort of practice for importing the sound. I'm writing a choose your own adventure program now. Once again, not complex, just time consuming. I'm going to start reading a game programming document later today so I can start on the zelda hack. Hopefully, it won't take too much longer.

Re: Multiplayer Legend of Zelda

Cool.
Hey, do you have to use DirectX to import sound and graphics and all that? I do, it's insanely annoying.

Re: Multiplayer Legend of Zelda

I did a search on altavista and saw this and made me join.

Are you still working on it? Honestly start with two players to make it simple.

Since two players might make the game more easy. balance it by sharing the hearts.

Me and my bro would so play this if it came to life .

ahh could you do coding with the SNES version of AlttP?

Re: Multiplayer Legend of Zelda

I have an idea for you. Maybe you can try using a program called "Open Zelda"
You can rip sprites or create custom ones. Multi-players will be completely possible in the future as the developer is currently working out some lag issues.
A member of ours is currently using the program to create a LTTP style Legend Of Zelda.

The Hyrule Fantasy

BTW it can create other games besides zelda but that's our main focus.
So check it out, and if you don't like it then that's just fine.

I know it's late to ask this, but would that include the original Four Swords that the GBA remake had?
