Blind the Thief

I was slightly curious about this character one day. In Kakariko Village a guy shows you Blind's empty secret hideout. But back outside, it seems like his hideout has been moved to the Lost Woods (where some stray thieves lurk about). However, when you go into the Dark World, you realise that he's moved there. My question is how? How did Blind find an entrance to the Dark World? Was it the Titan Mitts (that moved the boulder north of Kakariko Village in order to go to the Dark World)? Did Agahnim send him there? Why would he? Well in the game's prologue it said:

So it is no surprise that no one was prepared for the new disasters that have recently struck Hyrule. Pestilence and drought, uncontrollable even by magic, ravaged the land. The king of Hyrule...offered rewards for anyone who could find the source of these troubles. In answer to these summons a stranger named Agahnim came and quelled the disasters with a previously unseen form of magic...Peace had returned to Hyrule... or had it?

I know it isn't "Pestilence and drought", but couldn't thievery be considered as one of the "new disasters that recently struck Hyrule"? Plus I'm sure Agahnim did other tasks that were unmentioned, but solving the pestilence and drought problems were his most amazing feats.

Just knaw on that for awhile.

well, we know by the guy in Blind's hideout (light world) that Blind is the leader of a band of thieves, so maybe Agahnim banished Blind and his gang into the Dark world to solve the Thievery problem in Hyrule...hmm...it's plausible

I always wondered that too. maybe Blind was originally sent to try to find the golden power but failed and got trapped. they could have been using him as a guinnae pig just to feel around a bit before going full on with the maiden kidnapping and all that.

what about the retired theif in the desert? you think he was a follower of blind at one point?

well yeah that's what I was alluding to. It's been a long time but i think he said something about being a retired thief, so maybe he left the fold before things got ugly for blind and his cronies.

What I'm sorta guessing upon is this:

Agahnim (and a few Hyrule Soldiers) figured out where Blind was hiding and ransacked the place one night. Blind and a few of his followers were sent to the Dark World (his followers turned into those Fox-like creatures, and Blind into...well that monster) as punishment. The other theives that weren't caught hid in their second hideout in the woods until all of it was over. Since then, some have even dispursed from the gang, not thinking their boss will come back (aka: that retired thief that picks locks).

most definately. actually there are several "unsavory" folks throughout Hyrule in ALTTP and any one of them could be a theif. If you'll remember there being several caverns and grottos where a theifly-looking guy goves you rupees or tells you a rumor. I think they're all connected.
