A quote from aLttP...I'm thoroughly stumped.

You know those three lumberjacks [who look sort of Kokiri-ish] in A Link to the Past, near Death Mountain?
Two of them are outside cutting a tree. The third one is inside for some reason. He says this strange quote that I just can't get my head around:

Quote:

But I am very good at riddles.
Now, he doesn't appear to be any smaller than the other two lumberjacks, and I can't think of any "giants" in aLttP.
If he is just there for filler, ok, fine that's understandable...but why say something like that?
He specifically says giants [which I can't recall any] and he mentions he's good at riddles, but he never says any riddles at all. All he says is that one quote. Why specifically have him mention two things that aren't in the game if it's just filler? Why not have him say something about Death Mountain or the Lost Woods seeing as he lives between them?
The one other thing that catches my attention is that after your first encounter with Aganhim, the two lumberjacks outside disappear, but the one inside does not.

So yeah, I'm pretty clueless. Any theories on this?
Raian, you wouldn't happen to have the original Japanese translation would you?

Isn't he the guy that gives you riddles after doing Four Swords for secret attacks?

The guy said that he's good at riddles. Maybe the one line that he said is a riddle. If it's puzzling you than it must be.

Hmm, I haven't played Four Swords yet, so I suppose that could be...which would make me look rather stupid for posting this

I can't remember what his text was in the original aLttP for SNES, so perhaps I'll go check that out and see if there's a difference.

In the Dark World, those cyclops that throw bombs are considered Giants.
Since they are big.
They have one eye
And they have enought strengh to knock out about two or three heart containers out of you.

Re: A quote from aLttP...I'm thoroughly stumped.

Alright, in that case, the part about the riddles is solved...but I wonder what he means by "giants" ?

Tell ya what, if you can tell me a part in MM where the giants come to Hyrule and chop down trees, then this is valid proof

Woah this may actually be proof?

Umm so anyway isnt it obvious.... the huge size of the giants as they walk through Termina means they can easily knock down trees.

Re: A quote from aLttP...I'm thoroughly stumped.

He specifically says cut down trees.

EDIT:

If it refers to the cyclops that presents some problems.
For him to know about the cyclops, he would've had to go to the Dark World. Without the mirror, he couldn't escape.
Plus, he specifically talks about cutting down trees. I don't think it can be the cyclops

I dont think it really matters. And so what really the giants could also help with the cutting or knocking down of trees.
