LOZ was pleseantly awesome

I, as a zelda fan, have beaten just about every zelda game. I had always loved zelda, and still do. However, one game I always thought was awful was zelda 2, adventure of link, I honestly hated it. because of my extreme dislike of this game, I asumed the origanal zelda for the NES would be even worse. Boy was I wrong. Recently I got the rom on my ds. I have been playing it non stop. I can't beleive a game had that much depth in the 80's! I could go around hyrule for hours, collecting new items, discovering new dungeons and areas. getting more heart containers, it soooo much fun, and reminds me alot of alttp but with worse graphics and story. It's no wonder zelda is so awesome, it was awesome to begin with.

anyone else really like the origanel zelda? It seems to me most modern gamers don't play classics because they arn't as good looking as newer games. but they are missing out on a whole lot of fun!

I absolutely adore it!
The only thing I don't like is how insanely difficult some of the rooms in dungeons are. Especially in Ganon's Tower.
But it's truly a great game. Revolutionary.

LoZ is a classic for sure; very challenging but with the right amount to balance out the adventure factor. Way ahead of it's time in terms of 8-bit games.

Yep! A masterpiece!
I wish the newer games were more like the originals in terms of exploration and adventure.

well, for one, the 2d side scrolling thing anoyed me like hell. It was really freaking hard, and I couldn't even find were the second temple was without using the guide on ZU. I just didn't like it.

Zelda will always be an overview or full 3D game ONLY, in my opinion. They tried the 2D thing and it was very awkward.

I actually got fairly far in LoZ once... then I just... stopped playing o.o I guess I'll have to finish it one of these days.

May I ask what NES emulator your using for your DS? I have SnemulDS for Snes games...

LoZ is quite good actually.

It's too difficult though, and pretty much impossible without a guide.

LoZ is a blast to play through, I've done it myself many of times.
AoL I've beaten only once because of the difficulty of the game. Once you beat it though, if you force yourself to play it, you'll realize how good of a game it really is, plus the final boss fight in AoL is amazing.

I played the GBA port of LoZ, myself. Pretty fun, if a bit difficult.

Then I started in on the second quest. Alskfdhg.

nesDS is pretty much the best one out there. Touch the screen for emulator settings.

I'm awful at this game. I think I'm trying ti get the 3rd temple but have to pass sometihng and keep dying. You kid of have to use a guide for this game because unlike others game, Mario, it isn't a 2d sidescroller where just on. The game is made in the 80s so it's about impossible (for me) to know where to go without a guide. It's a great game though. I just suck at 80-90s games.

Pffff where's the fun in that? I never use a guide on the first go around. I will look after I beat the game to see what I missed and that's about it.

Why don't you just read a summary on the game's story... you'd probably have just as much fun doing that and it would cost you less.

It's great isn't it The only bad thing is the difficulty
And about Zelda II, wonder what it what it would be like if Nntendo ignored the feedback and made the rest of the Zelda's like that!

Well one thing is for sure... I wouldn't spend my hard earned Rupees on any other Zelda games, if they ignored that feedback... but it too a break from the whole "connection" thing that the first game created... that's why it was so bad. Possibly?

Similar to Link's Awakening... It service no connection the the series ultimate story line, but it is unlike AoL a fun game. Every other one has a correlation and connection to each other deeply... I feel these sort of games are divisions...

Yeah.. Unfortunately, most younger gamers are pretty spoiled when it comes to graphics. On the other hand, I do understand them. Games from the past are not really as captivating today as they once were. But you're right, LoZ is pretty darn awesome.

I saddens me a bit that many of you think that AoL sucks. Of course, it's hard to get into games that are extremely hard but if you compare AoL with other games in the era, it is a masterpiece compared to many other games that were released on the NES.

For it's time it was spectacular, I agree. It's actually the story I found myself quite weary off. Not so much the complexity... I feel it doesn't connect enough to what was to come and the original. I also feel as though, at it's time the story was most/more complex, considering the so-called competition were plotless, and simple. Making the game even larger then expected.

Younger gamers are getting motion sickness from the new graphics... That's one of the top ten reasons I'm going to stick with my NES.. and possibly my N64.

Without a guide you should at least be able to find half the temples as they're easily accessible. I only had to ask a friend where to find the eighth dungeon because that one's a real *****.
All in all, the game is one of the best, if you ask me. I think I voted it one of my favourites somewhere
They should only take out the bits where you have to blast every wall and bush in the overworld just in case you might run into the entrance of a dungeon.
Getting bombs was a réal *****. That's where the major difference in difficulty comes from, compared to more recent Zelda installments; the amount of items and hearts dropped by killed enemies.

Edit: I passed 200 and I'm stíll a Goron? Bollocks.

Yeah, I love the original Legend of Zelda! It's the game that started it all and one of the best games ever made!

I've never fully understood why folks are so bitter and negative towards Zelda II: The Adventure of Link though? I think it's a great game as well!

OMG!!! I loved Zelda II, it was better than LoZ. I bet if you got the downward thrust, you'd love it as much as I do.
