Adventure of Link

Some people hate it, some people love it. Some call it a black sheep, others praise its unique style. Love it or hate it, it's still pretty friggin' hard.
Does anyone here still play Adventure of Link?

I am currently playing it. It is pretty hard but with a lot of patience you can do well in it(also a walkthru, lol).

So far I have only beaten the second dungeon, which i know doesnt sound like it's very far but getting there took me all afternoon >>.

As for the gameplay differences...I find that the machanics have there flaws, but overall the game can be/feel very rewarding. Also, very addicting. Probably the most annoying thing is starting back at North palace everytime I get a gameover. I like the differences that the gameplay offers compared to other zeldas. And the music is kickin' to^^. I'll come back later for more.

Why do you think most people ignore AoL?

Probably because of it's difficulty and it differences from the other games in the series.

That's one of the problems I have with a lot of Zelda fans- their opinion of games is usually affected by difficulty level. A load of people LOVE TWW, even though it was much too easy- to the point that it is more difficult to die than to finish the game.
On the flip side, however, one of the main reasons most people give for not liking AoL is that it is insanely difficult. Wow.

I personally like its uniqueness. I never truely appreciated the game till i finished it. Although it was fustrating a lot i still enjoyed the challenge and it was a great accomplishement for me to finish it.
So i would say for me, i think its an enjoyable and a great game.

I can see where you're coming from, but just because it's 'harder than it should be' doesn't necessarily mean that it's not worth playing.

I think the worse thing about it is that it's so hard to level up. Instead of leveling unintentionaly, it's something your going to have to set out to do. I mean by fighting weak enemies for hours until you have enough experience points because the harder bad guys kill you to easily.

So I just beat the fourth dungeon and leveling up I think is becoming an issue.

Well, I have a method to gain quick experience points, but only if you've already got another save file open.

Nah, the battle is all about how one approaches it. Just know how to beat him, know that you have enough exp to do so, and then do it.

I don't mind the difficulty level for AoL. But, then again, I don't think it's as hard as some people make it out to be. It's definitely harder than other Zelda games. Someone's already mentioned tWW. I agree it was a tad too easy, but at the same time, I found it tons of fun to play. I don't mind a challenge, but I don't mind playing an easier game if it's still fun.

Anyway, I love AoL and still play it a lot. I was playing it not too long ago. Still sits as one of my faves with the Zelda series (:

No. I don't. It's difficulty is what makes it fun, really.

And I agree with you, I'm just saying it's such a pain when you grow a level after like 45 minutes of beating enemies, then get killed by a blue blob and lose all your progress up to that point. I remember getting it about 10 years ago from a friend on the original NES and having it constantly freeze/blue screen on me.

I have the Collectors Edition now, but I never play it. I'm almost positive it will be the last one I ever beat lol.

Yeah... you're the only one who counts them. They aren't canon. They are denounced by Nintendo themselves. They are the subject of ridicule and shame amongst anything Zelda.

Anyways, what I don't get is why people say AoL is hard. It really isn't. It's a decent challenge, but not really all that hard.

Agreed, i've almost beat the game now. It's not hard. Just tedious.

I love the game. On my current playthrough I just placed the 5th stone.
The game is dismissed by many because it's too hard. Anyone using that excuse is just not a true Zelda fan. The game is difficult, yes, but it is so rewarding when you finally beat it.
It is my 2nd favorite game in the series.

Funny, but getting to and completing last temple, insanly hard even tho I'm a experienced gamer, don't find many other things that hard.

Are you serious!? That is probably the hardest Zelda game known to man(IMO). I have beaten the first dungeon, and a little bit after, and that's all I've been able to do. And I spent countless time trying to beat that game.

I do love the game though, even though it's old and annoying, it's still a really great game.

In conclusion, yes, unless you're uber awesome--yes, the only word to describe the skill is 'uber'--and have lot's of time on your hands, then your going to have some trouble beating this game. But then when you do beat the game, the victory is ever so sweet.

I love this game so much. It's so awesome! I like the level up thing, the spells, the music, the game play, the side scrolling, it's difficulty, starting at the north palace after every game over and it's very easy boss fight against the big wizard and Dark Link. Anyone who says this game sucks, should play it 'till the end. And it's not that friggin' hard as some people say, it's just 'hard'.

Have I said how much I love this game?
