Played LoZ when it first came out on the NES. I'm 32 now and still play it regularly(actually, I just started a 2nd quest file last night). I also still play AoLquite a bit as well.

Actually, it was probably about 1989 or 1990 for me, I'm afraid. But you're not the only old fart in here. I'm 27. I was just a tad "late" to the Nintendo craze.

The flow of time is always cruel. Its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it. A thing that doesn't change with time is a memory of younger days.

Yup, I did somewhere back then. I was really young though, and as I said in my introduction message today, my dad and sister finished the game when I was asleep, so mean! I remember playing Mario back then as well and when I accidentally went down one of those pipes I cried because I thought I broke the game...

I can't believe how much all these games changed in 20 years. It makes you wonder what games will be like in the year 2028!

I was born in 1987 and didn't start playing video games until 1992. First game I played was the original mario brothers on NES. I played the original Zelda first when I was 5 but it was extremely hard for me, and then I played A Link To The Past later on with my friend when I was 7 or so, then I got a Game Boy and Link's Awakening on my 8th. or 9th. birthday, so that was the first Zelda game I owned. But I never played Zelda seriously until Ocarina Of Time. I still haven't found myself to beat Link's Awakening... I got to Turtle Rock and then I lost my game... I bought it again over ebay but the game was broken upon getting it in the mail. :glare

I am currently trying to beat the first original Zelda at the moment.. Only two pieces of the Triforce so far. :XD Never beat that game before, but I'mma try!

I am currently 20.

Good luck with that levlan. It's hard as nails. But a very rewarding accomplishment. 8)

I'm older than you are.

But I hadn't played any Zelda games until about a year ago. Sure I had the early Nintendo, SEGA, Gameboy systems; but I spent more time doing other things (homework, watching TV, playing outside, doing art stuffs) and couldn't really get into any games.

I was just a little yearling when the original was released.

I think I did play it at a very young age, though, possibly when I was around 5 or so. I was a bit too young to appreciate a complex game like that. It wasn't until later with the release of A Link to the Past that I really got in to the series, and went back to properly play the first game.

I was gaming before I went to school XD. I've been a Nintendo gal since 1987, actually, but didn't play the LoZ till 1988, or 1989... I think. I played on the NES and Sega Mastersystem since a lil' Liahface. 8 bit gamer, ya, though 16 bit was actually my favourite era. I remember NESing and playing the original LoZ... and Alexx Kidd on the Mastersystem... *happy sigh* Good times.

Same here. That's when we got a NES, and I got to pick one game. My first choice was LoZ, but my sister said it was too hard. So I went with AoL, and really showed her! I didn't beat either until I played them through again like 10 years later.

Yeah I was 5 playing the original and beat it but my Mom helped me a lot. I was good at killing the creatures and whatnot but I got lost a lot. She helped me with the map and she helped me mark the dungeon locations and whatnot. I remember using the candle and just burning random bushes. Before you got the red candle you could only use it once then go to the next screen and come back if you wanted to try again. What a pain! But at 5 I loved every second. Thank you Alisoun for saying im not that old

As hard as Zelda 1 and 2 were on the NES(at 5 years old) I always thought Ninja Gaiden was much harder.

Er... what?

@IrishSJ: wow, your mom helped you with LoZ? Mine accidentally erased my game! Almost 20 years later, she still feels guilty about that, it's hilarious.

I've got the Zelda Promo Disc that was included with the GameCube, It has the game on it. So yes, I've played it, just not when it first came out.

You are by no means the oldest person here.

Yeah, I played LoZ back when it was new. Back when games typically didn't have save files. It was a wondrous place to explore, though not everyone appreciates the value of such open exploration.

yeah i agree i have recently decided to relive a few moments of my past and invested a few wii points(which i got free as i used my nintendo star points)on ninja gaiden on nes and im having trouble on act three.
i can get through the level with almost full health as ive replayed it so many times its just the end of level boss that jumps and shoots things is damn anoying lol.
