Favourite NES/SNES Zelda game

Which Zelda NES/SNES game is your favourite?
Give reasons for your answer.

My favourite is A Link To The Past, because it revolutionized the Zelda series.

A Link to the Past. It is my favorite Zelda game period. It was the first Zelda to have all the elements we know and love today. Plus I could beat it at a younger age than the first two. There are other reason, but I can't describe them.

Is one of the other reasons nostalgia?

It has to be ALttP. It was the first one that got me really involved story wise. The depth of it was something never before seen and it carried on to form the foundations of the following titles. It has a special place in my heart.

Okay, well, I know I'm already greatly outnumbered. I'm going to have to say that Adventure of Link was the best S/NES game!

The gaming style was completely different from the rest of the series. It also introduced things that are overlooked: towns, magic, a barrage of the weaponry, etc. The game continues to be a challenge. Once you've learned all the puzzles, the combat itself remains a challenge.

I believe it's a fabulous game. ^_^ .. and don't flame!

Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link

Decent storyline for a NES game, different from all the other Zelda games, and 2D side-scrolling greatness.

Alttp was the best for me, but AoL came close aswell. They are both good games to be honest.

The original, of the ones I've played, although I must say AoL was very atmospheric, and might take the cake if I can ever get my hands on a copy to finish it.

Alright! This is your first post, and with good reason. Welcome to ZU! (You're already on my good side) It's nice to see somebody who appreciates AoL! ^_^

The original took difficulty to the extreme. =0P It's still a fabulous game, though. One of these days, I'll help you out with the second one. It is DEFINITELY worth the effort! ^_^

AoL is definitely underrated and a very great game, but ALttP just holds a special place in my heart. I grew up with that game. I agree though, more people should appreciate AoL.

I find that's a big reason why I'm so dear to AoL as well. It was the game I grew up with as well. I can appreciate ALttP for what it's worth, but I never really got into it. I'm glad I did grow up with AoL, though, because it allows me to appreciate it in ALL its GLORY! ^_^

The original, it's a classic and quite fun, however it's extremely difficult at the point where I'm at now I like the sense of exploration, though.

I only played AoL for an hour but it was horrible, and I think ALttP is my least favorite Zelda.

Definitely the classic Zelda. It's the game that started it all, and I still can't help but laugh at the first Ganon ever from that game. C'mon people...it's pretty funny when you think about it.

Wow, it fels GREAT to be back! Anyway, I will say that although the great A Link To The Past revolutionizd the series, Adventure Of Link introduced extreme difficulty, which sadly is not used much anymore...
But still, rather one tough game than none!

Definitely a Link To The Past
It was my first Zelda game ever. It has so much in it that the previous two lacked. It's just a great game overall. The dual maps thing is just genius

A Link To The Past really did take a leap into the future. It shaped a lot of elements in more recent Zelda games. But the first two were also extremely important.

I agree. The first one was, well, the first! It was a truly revolutionary game
The second one may be considered a flop by some people, but it did do us the favor of introducing magic among other things. And it was good to see Nintendo experimenting with it a little.
A Link to the Past was when Zelda really hit it's "prime" in my mind

I liked ALttP and LoZ equally but I found ALttP a bit more easy. It was also the first game where they used the three symblos of Triforce (kind of, it had a red, blue and green gem in it though)

Definitely ALttP. I mean LoZ was a great game. Then AoL came along, and the levelling up pretty much jams it at the bottom of my list.

Then ALttP came along, taking what made the first game great, and improving on it. Plus it was the first game with a reasonably deep story that wasn't entirely laid down before you started playing.
