What's with ALttP Link's hair?
A kind of random question, but what's with Link's hair in ALttP? In the game, it's pink, but in all the promotional art and stuff, it's blonde. I've just always wondered about this...
Sprite Link  Promotional Art Link  (Is it just me, or is he not wearing anything under his tunic???)

I think it is just because they couldnt get a good blond color on the snes. Here is a good response to the question that i saw when i searched for it to see if there was an official reason: "If I had to take a guess, I'd say it's because the SNES could only store so many colors on a single pallet. And they didnt want to waste game space on hair."
Note: the above is not the official reason it is a good guess though.

Hmm. I thought that was only after you got the red or blue mail. I have always wondered this myself.
If it was a limited color issue, why didn't they make it brown, like in the first two on the NES?

I've always noticed that but never really questioned it, never bothered me. I think the most logical answer is just that they had a limited amount of colours so they just decided "what the hell lets use pink".
So many people think its the trim on his hat but the pink is his hair, you can see the longer part on the side where his hair hangs down in front of his ear.

It is the thing that they could only have a certain number of colors for each pallet, and they probably decided to use the same pallet for Link and Bunny Link so it would be easier to make.

I'm guessing Link tried to dye his hair red... and it faded to pink. Or! Maybe he was going for the punk look since chic's dig that

I doubt it was because of the palette, as he has brown within the sprite, though a different shade than would have been used for the hair likely, but they could change the sleeve color.
The real reason is because spriters in the SNES era were crazy. Often a sprite maker would look at the Art made by the creator and then sprite something completely different. Final Fantasy 6 and Tales of Phantasia are perfect examples of this. Either way, I like pink haired Link, he was the first Link I ever played as and he would honestly look weird with brown or blonde hair. I have tried. And of course its not the hat, hats don't have Link's crazy ponytail sideburns! And since when do fringes have parts?  Maybe it's that weird pink haze everywhere that caused his hair to change colors...

I agree with the thing about the pallets but it might also be someone who anted to have fun and so changed his color.

I thought it was part of the hat. Although, I really noticed it until just now. Im guessing that they accidentaly did that. But then it would've been re-checked.

It might have been for the sprite to go with the environment better. (Colour harmony?) If it had been brown or something, it would have looked bizarre (because the trim is also brown) and yellow might have stuck out too much.
