A quick LoZ question

I'm every so slowly starting to try this game again. I am having to check the internet sometimes, as there are some things that are COMPLETELY and FULLY unclear. Maybe the NES games manual gave you hints, but I know on the VC there are many things that could never be figured out by itself. (like some of the areas to bomb...how the heck are you expected to know where they are in all of that space? you'd go through 10000 bombs) BUT ANYWAY...

Here

Look at the left two rooms in that picture, with the red guys. I'm curious, are those the LoZ version of Darknuts?

I'm having a lot of difficulty getting past those two rooms. I need to go down those stairs in the bottom room...and what is that right next to the stairs? Last attempt I got right next to it then I died before I could touch it

And what are those 12 weird things at the start of every dungeon?

What picture? I do not see any picture though.

But for the last question, most of them are just for show. They pretty much just mark the entrance room.

This should help you. get to a spot on the map where there's an item (like red potion or heart container, ruppees) but no door on your screen, either bomb, burn, or push a bloch or statue. Map will tell you every item and dungeon location, just takes a little time to learn the "map key"

I love how no one has ever complained about the layout of the dungeon in that pic(I know it has significance in Japan, but everyone knows that). Anyway, I never had much trouble finding where to bomb, it really just takes some common sense.

Edit: I think the manual had a picture in it that said what the theme for each dungeon was to help you. You could look for the manual online or you could buy a copy of the game at a flea market for $5.

No from what I remember the manual didn't really give any hints you just have to find things by trial and error. LOL I played LOZ when it first came out and there was Zero help available to figure these things out. Me and my brothers spent four months bombing every where and burning practically every bush one at a time to find the 8th dungeon.
