Mario in A Link to the past?
In Kakariko village, down on the far right, the second house. If you enter it, on the far wall there is a picture of what I think is Mario!

In Link's Awakening, if you give Mr.Write the letter from the goat, a picture of Peach is along...
Besides, Malon is a refference to Peach, Talon is a refference to Mario and Ingo is a refference to Luigi... or so I heard...

Well I know that both Malon and Talon have bowser broaches but yeah how is Malon a a refference to Peach? Well I guess there hair is slightly similar.

They simply put Mario in there to promote Nintendo's franchise, of course. There would be no other point in doing this. It's quite funny, actually. As we manage to notice Mario, Yoshi and another few Nintendo copyrighted characters in Ocarina Of Time.

Yeah, I heard about this a long time ago. Not only do we see Mario, etc. in ALttP and OoT, but the Happy Mask man has a Mario mask on his pack in MM. It's actually quite hard to miss. You also see various Mario enemies in Zelda games too, such as Chain Chomps in FSA and Bob-ombs in TMC.
ALttP definitely isn't the only Zelda game with Mario references.

I also think the relation between Talon/Tarin and Mario go a little deeper when Talon and Tarin both love mushrooms, which you would know are Mario's staple power-up item. Also, the mushroom Tarin is holding in the official art looks very much like the Super Mushroom in the Mario games.
I have also seen two Boo Buddies guarding the Power Bracelet in LA.

Also, In OoT, there is a picture of Mario in the courtyard where you meet Zelda, I forget which, but if U hit the window it's in, you either get 20 rupees, or a bomb thrown at you.
