~Just got Adventure of Link~

I have recently obtained the Game Boy Advance Re-port for Zelda 2 Adventure of Link. The game is mindbogglingly hard! Could I get some tips and pointers about the game. Also I don't know how to do the spoiler tag so I'll just tell you where I am. I have the Defense spell and High Jump spell. I've fully completed the first temple, except the boss which i think i need the down thrust for. Is there anything I need to beat this boss. Also where is the Down Thrust cast found? The cave below Rauru(I think that's the name, well the town to the far west) I've made it through there and found myself in some kind of water town but I can't seem to do anything there... Could some one please help??

First of you don't need the down thrust for the first boss. Plus, you won't be getting it any time soon.

To beat the boss, you just need to jump ans hit his head on the way back down.

I suggest you level up a little first, even though that takes for ever at the beginning. Search for enemies in the heavy grass by Saria (water town). The beginning gets easier the more you level up.

I had just beaton AoL my first time yesterday, on my GBA.

You mean the first palace boss?, you don't need the down thrust for it. Is the water city your talking about the one right next to the river. To pass the river in the city you have to get a note from someome in the forest tiles north of the city.

You are definetly going to want to level up as much as you can. Find heart and magic containers if you can. For the first boss jump and hit his head. If you are having trouble wth the Knights (most people do) a technique I like is to run at them, crouch down so that you slide a little bit and strike them, run away and repeat.

Thnx for the knight hint I always died on them. I have a lv 3 sword lv 3 magic and lv 4 health....do I need to train more??

Well if I understand you correctly, you still haven't beaten the first temple. So for now, your stats are fine. You definetly want to max your stats out ASAP though. The max level for all is 8. Any level after that will give you an extra life.

One question guys...I have it on the gba report and is there only one way to save? I can only save when i die and I don't know how to save any other way can some 1 help me...

I'm pretty sure that dying is the only way to save. Fortunately, dying in AoL isn't too difficult.

Ya but it's kind of dumb that the only way to save is dying because I keep getting half way to gaining another level but it's my bed time or meal time and I have to shut it off. It gets kind of boring gaining half of a level every time you play.

Also I almost beat the boss but he is very hard. So where can I find some heart containers early in the game?

Oh and by the way guys. This topic can't be bumped up by me double posting so just please if you have the time look for it and post something once in a while if I have any questions.

Sorry To double post but editing won't bump the topic, I have the fist object but don't know what it does, you know the item you get in the second temple. Also my stats are 4 attack 5 magic and 6 life, is that ok for the second temple boss?

You mean the glove? It lets you break certain kinds of blocks with your sword.

Did you get the one down the path south of the first palace?

It is below the first palace. After going down for a bit, there should be a path. It is in the centre green spot at the end.

The link is broken. But that is probably the wrong path. You would not get the hammer until you got through Death Mountain.

The link isn't broken, there was an extra http// and quotations.

The heart container isn't there, it's south of the first palace. Go through the cave to the first palace, but go south instead of north.

Also, you need the hammer from Death Mountain to break the rock.

The biggest problem with AoL's system is that it requires too much patience. I'm so used to fast-paced Zelda that I often fail in the hunt. Any damage can be avoided with just a little hesitation in your approach. You can transverse dark caves by waiting for shadows of enemies. A two second delay reveals an enemies tactics and will save you from plenty of unecessary damaging. Once you get about 20 levels up and have 2 or 3 spells, AoL is a snap, but that takes at least 3-5 hours on my watch. Expect to spend loads of time in the mix.

The hidden Knight in Mido (the harbor town on the coast) teaches you that technique, but you have to obtain the Hammer in Death Mountain to get there, first.
