I just realized something.

Im not sure if there was a thread like this already, but remeber when you could get the master sword tempered in ALttP? It turned gold. Why isnt that sword gold in any of the other games?!? Can I please get some opinions?

i think its because a link to the past was the last game with the master sword in it in the timelines. Notice how at the end it states that the master sword rests forever? thats what i mean.

That's what I've always thought, notice how it's the only one that lets you actually reforge the legendary blade?

Something I've been confused about though, what happened to blade beams?
Link can shoot them from any sword in the first LoZ from the one he has in AoL for a limited range, and in ALttP the beams are different, they also show up in the oracle games, so why aren't they in the 3D games?

good point. The real question that I meant was why did the master sword change so much?

I Basically Just think the creators just gave the Master sword a new style for the future its not really that the blade changed but the guy who draws the story forgot their name...( Illustraters duh..) they probabily desided to do something New. ><

Not only a shooter game, it would make the Bow'n'Arrows pretty much useless. When it comes to 2D Zelda games, there aren't many techniques Link can use with his sword (tMC has the most techniques thus far I believe). However in a 3D game, Link has more options (by holding onto the B button, holding onto L, use Z targeting, etc...). So I honestly think that sword beams aren't necessary in 3D games...unless it's on the very last battle (ala MM with the Feirce Diety Mask...I believe).

oh yah i forgot about the feirce deity's mask being able to do that...one thing that bothered me was how come the master sword was moved around since you always had to get the three something or others to hold it

A hero must prove his worth, otherwise in ALtttP any noob could walk into the lost woods and take the sword. The three crystals are the keys that unlock the binding seal on tthe sword that keeps is in it's pedastal.

Ganon not gannon but i don't think Ganon would be able to weild the master sword anyway, considering its the sword of evil's bane and Ganon is practically the cause of evil itself... and plus, he has his happy little triden to play around with.

You reforge the MS in TWW. The MS in ALttP is actually at it's original power as evidenced by it's radiant sheen and the fact that no one in the game ever says "It's power has faded" or something like that. In ALttP you actually get to upgrade it from its original power.

Regarding blade beams, the developers probably decided it would make the 3d games too easy since you can lock-on to any enemy. I would have to agree with their decision.

One thing is for sure is that the Master Sword was tempered as a bonus, but what is REALLY strange is that the Master Sword (red tempered sword) is thrown into the magical fairy pound of mystery in the Temple of Darkness. And then the Great Fairy gives you a completly new golden sword??? Either that or she upgraded the Master Sword into the Light Sword - (At least thats what I thought the nic-kname of that sword was back then.)

Here's a long shot, perhaps it's the great fairies sword? I doubt it but I thought I should throw that in for posterity.

In some ways ALttp had many differences than all the other zelda games. Like how come you need the silver arrow to kill ganon in that game but most of the other games you need the gold arrow? Wierd huh and also in ALttp you need the big key to not only get to the boss but to open the big treasure chest that holds the item.

For the story and because it is supposed to be the last game in the timeline. You could say that the sword needed reforging to once and for all defeat Ganon.

To the best of my knowledge, you don't have to upgrade the Master Sword to beat the game ; it just makes things easier. So, maybe you aren't supposed to power up the Master Sword at all?

I don't think that your "not supposed" to get the Master Sword upgrades. Althought it is not a nessesity, it is like you said, "it just makes things easier".
