Keeping only 3 hearts in ALTTP

Is it possible to only have three hearts throughout the entire game? It seems that when I beat the first boss the heart piece drops to the floor, but only when I pick it up will it give me the pendent. I'm wondering if there is a known trick that will allow me to avoid the heart piece.

Nope, you can't beat ALttP with only three hearts. If you could, then I'd have already done it and become bored with it. The fewest number of hearts you can beat the game with is thirteen, so if you have the green mail the whole game, then you might as well have the red mail and all twenty hearts against Ganon. 'Tis a shame, really.

yes it is.... but beeting a link to the past with three hearts would be five times harder than doing it with ww,oot or mm because you can die so much easier in the 2d games.

Yep, that's true. I had absolutely no problem beating Ganondorf in Wind Waker with only three hearts. Hopefully Twilight Princess will have a harder three heart challenge, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Alttp is a very hard game, I doubt you'd get farther than the second duengeon, yea, 2nd sounds about right.

Second dungeon with only three hearts? Me? No, I could do much better than that. I could beat the game if I just planned things out a bit, seeing as some of the later bosses inflict more than three hearts of damage to you at a time.

I trust that you would get far, but i really doubt that you could beat ganon.

You could beat it with three hearts, but youd need a lot of faeries (is that the alttp spelling?)

and plus, you can block enemies attacks in 3d games, in alttp you can just block arrows and stuff, depending on your sheild.

But you can avoid their attacks altogether with choice objects, such as the Cane of Byrna, the Magic Cape, and the Hookshot. You can also block arrows and most sword attacks with your own sword.

Or you could beat Ganon without losing a single heart, like I can do and as I'm sure Master of ALttP can do also. No fairies (no, that's the ALttP spelling) required.

^Well if you beat him mulitple times its actually very easy.

Well you could always reset when you lose more then 3 hearts but you have to be really disciplined to do it. Beating Ganon? I've even got trouble with him with all hearts *Walks away in shame*

Well, to tell the truth, when I fight Ganon I don't care about my health, really. I just rush in and attack him as fast as I can. I've got a few good strategies for him that work well with my way of attacking him. I'll try beating him without taking a single hit. Oh, and the ALttP spelling is faerie. Well, the SNES version, at least.

That's interesting. It's "fairy" in the GBA version. I suppose they would have modified a few texts and added other things like the hurricane blade into the GBA version. It was a fairly old game, so they did made a few improvements.

that is impossible however in OOT you can you just step onto the little portal and you can come back later

yeah thats true I remember when I first started OoT I accidently hit the portal and died trying to get it and had to do it again (keep in mind I was a simple child at the time)

Yeah it really stinks that you can't complete the game with only three hearts, otherwise it would've been a real challenge. I was pretty happy to be attepting Alttp with only three hearts, but after the first dungeon only the heart piece fell. *sigh* oh well. I guess OoT would be good for that challenge too.

If you can't beat ALTTP with 3 hearts, then how far can can you get with only 3 hearts?
