Agahnim's Robes

In ALttP, both SNES and GBA versions, Agahnim has red robes in all of the official artwork, yet in the game he has green robes. Do any of you have any ideas as to why this is? I've made some sprites of him with red robes, and they look a lot better. Here they are.

Now, these look a lot better than the normal Agahnim, don't they? You can compare them with the uncompleted ones, this is one of my more rushed customs. And the credit is at the bottom of the picture, so don't go telling me that I'm stealing your work.

Possibly they could have made the Artwork before the game was released and just never changed it to match the game.

But now he looks exaclty how he does in the artwork, does he not? I'm just saying that this Agahnim looks much better than the one in green robes because for many years I always looked at that little jewel thing on his head and thought it was his face. Hm.... I'm going to fix those up a little bit, they just don't seem right yet.

i didn't know that thing was a jewel. wow. i see his actual face now though. And as i compare them, it looks as if the face is more visible with the green robes rather than the red robes.

Yeah, he looks way better in red robes, you can see his face more clearly.

I actually never noticed that. I'm not colorblind, I just never took the time to think about it.

That's what I wanted to make it look like. I ran a google search for him and I based the sprites off some official artwork.

Much better, don't you think? Oh, and the whole point of that extra little red thing on his face is so that you DON'T see his face.

Very interesting. I didn't realize this either until now. Maybe the green robes look more menacing, because the red robes make him look less like an evil supervillian to me.

Well, it's probably the black face that makes him look more like a villain. I was trying to make these as much like the official artwork as I possibly could, and I think they came out really good.

But I still have difficulty to see his face, always tought before that his crown was looking like his face....

What a random thread. I can't say I noticed anything until you pointed it out. Maybe he got tired of his old robes and decided to change to some new ones ^_^. That would be the simple answer, of course.

Yes, it is very random, but it's been bugging me for some time. In my altered sprites, the grey part above the body is supposed to be his face and the little blueish line thing in the middle of his body is supposed to be the Sheikah marking.... Wait, you all notice that!? The Sheikah marking! He could be a Sheikah!

-_- If he's a sheikah, they will point that out eventually.

Well, it's a logical explaination, at least it shows where the symbol in OoT came from. You can actually see it on Ganondorf's little hut in Wind Waker. Anyways, here's a bit of artwork of Agahnim.

During the photoshoot Agahnim's robes were red. When he got home he took a hot steamy shower with his lover Carlos and when he got out...HIS RED ROBE WAS GONE :O. He grumbled off to the fight with Link wearing his only robe, a green one at that.
