Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

All sounds a bit dodgy, really.
- Do the title and intro screens work?
- Does the intro sequence (which plays if you leave the title screen inactive for a bit) contain any errors?
- Did you input your name as "JUSTIN" and the game itself replaced the U with a Q?
- If you use Elimination mode to delete all of the W files, do they stay deleted after you reset the game?

If these things aren't working the way they should, it could well be that your game is faulty. If you really want to play the original Legend of Zelda, I'd recommend buying the re-release on the GameBoy Advance.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

-Title and intro work fine
-Intro sequence has no errors
-Yes, the game replaces U with Q after I am done registering my name
-And no, the game keeps the W files after I delete them and reset the game

=\ if you need any more information go ahead and ask. Even though you weren't extremely helpful I still appreciate it.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

Sounds to me like there's a problem with the game's internal memory, which doesn't bode well. When you've registered your name, what happens? Presumably your file name is displayed on the screen. You say you aren't able to open the file and start the game - are you even able to highlight it with the cursor?

It registers my name, but it still only allows me to register and eliminate. It won't let me select my file and play. I'm just going to run it back to the store I bought it from and let them know whats up and get some money back.

Sounds like the best option. There are plenty of other ways to play that game these days. Hard luck though, must be a bit disappointing.

It is a bit disappointing. To be honest, the only reason my fiance and I bought it was because of how "retro" it seemed. Oh well! Thanks again.

In the original Legend of Zelda, what is an easy way to kill those blasted beam shooting things in the sixth temple?

If you mean the Wizrobes, there's only one way to kill them if I remember correctly, and that's with your sword. You can easily have the third sword (Magical Sword) by that stage in the game, and you should definitely have a Magical Shield, which blocks their magic attacks. After that, it's just a question of timing - block, counter, repeat.

Did you kill all the enemies in the area? Once you've killed all the enemies, the anti-fairies (those red/white things that drain your magic meter) will move around the room. That's when you press the switch, making the Big Key appear.

yea, I killed all the enemies,

The Stalfos, the big-eye statue, all of them, but when I walk on to the switch, it won't press down

Could it be the problem with my ROM? Since I'm playing it on VBA

Oh, I was just about to ask that, but...yes, it could probably be the ROM (or even the emulator) that's causing the problem.

In AoL? You don't. At the end you get the Triforce of Courage and Link already had Power and Wisdom from the original LoZ.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

In AoL, I cannot remember how to get to the sixth dungeon. I only started playing it again now after ten years, so I'm in the dark BIG time. I have the flute and have beaten five dungeons. I just can't find the *bleep*ing one with the cross! The guy in Kasuto says to go east in the woods, but I haven't found anything by going east except for a random forest through the mountains that you can't enter and a heart container (exactly east of Kasuto.)

Assistance?

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

Ah of course, the best game everrrr

I can help you out!

So if my calculations are correct, you just finished the water palace.

Make sure while in Kasuto, you get the "Spell" spell from the old woman in the town. Then head to the end and use "Spell" where there appears to be nothing, then a cave will appear. Enter to receive the Magic key. Next, you can do one of the following...

a) Head up the coast line to find the last heart container.

or

b) Head to the three stones on the south beach shaped like a triangle. Stand in between them and play the flute and ta-da. The hidden palace is not so hidden anymore.

Need any help, feel free to PM me : D

All correct, with one important detail missing right at the beginning.

You've been to the ruins of Kasuto where the old man tells you to go to the eastern woods. You're now looking for the hidden town of New Kasuto.

In the region where there is lots of forest and a river running through it, go into those woods and go northwest as far as you can - you should come across a cave. Navigate throught the cave and you should find another forest on the other side. Use your hammer in the forest to cut the trees down as you would to smash boulders, and you should uncover the hidden village on one of the map sqaures. Then just follow the advice that Aeffles gave you.

Good luck.

Oh, I already found it.

The dungeon's all glitchy, though. Must be a bad ROM...
