Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

Level on the bridges around the hammer area if you don't have the hammer, the crocolide enemies gives like 100 exp each. If you do have the hammer, go to eastern hyrule (with the raft) and kill the jumping enemies that shoot fire. They give 50 exp each and it's close to a city where you can fill up mana.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

Sigh...so I'm playing through the TLoZ's second quest right now...and I'm 100% sure that it's just as hard (if not, harder) than TAoL. D: I've died 22 times so far in trying to defeat the Level 2 boss, and I always get soooo close to killing it, but then I die. I only have 4 hearts since they changed the Heart Containers around, so I'm having a tough time.

So...my question is, are the Heart Containers in the second quest anywhere near the ones from the first quest? I need to find some asap if I want to get past Level 2. >:0

You can try going to vgmaps.com to try to find Heart Container locations and other things. The site has maps of First Quest and Second Quest.

Asking us where the heart containers are is just as much of a guide as looking at a map.

The ones you can get right away are nowhere near where they were first quest.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

Except that I didn't ask you guys where to find them. I asked if they were anywhere NEAR the first quest's, which is not specific at all.

But thanks, though. I guess I'll have to do some looking around.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

So like I finally beaten Level 5, Damn those Blue Darknuts... as well as Level 7. So I've gotten my two Heart Containers and Triforce pieces, I only need two more.

And yet, that old man still won't let me have that stupid Magical Sword. What does it take just to get it? I watched a video of it on Zelda Dungeon, and somehow the guy was able to get that sword even before doing the fifth dungeon...

I believe you need 12 heart containers.

The trick I did with Darknuts was took advantage of the fact that if you kill a few, then save when you die, they will still be dead when you go back. It may add some deaths to your count, but it gets rid of the Darknuts.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

^Yep, you need 12 Heart Containers.

I have a question, too. You know how in the second quest the Old Man makes you choose between taking away a Heart Container or 50 Rupees? Well, if you choose to take away the Heart Container, how can you get it back? I accidentally chose the HC once, but I reset the game 'cus I was too scared I wouldn't be able to retrieve it.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

I once walked back into this cave where an old man offered either one of the two, where I had chose the heart container. He wasn't there at all, so I guess if you do choose one, you can't get the other. :/

...Again, I hate it when I have to double post in help threads. Even if I merged this with another post, it wouldn't grab anyone's attention.... >_>

I have now gotten all eight Triforce pieces in LoZ. I use the recorder to try to go into the final dungeon, the Death Mountain Labyrinth. So the flute takes me to the Lion Labyrinth. But when I use it again, it skips right to the first Labyrinth. How am I going to get to the Death Mountain Labyrinth?

I don't think you really need the recorder to warp you there... You can just walk to the dungeon, you know.

Yeah, I found out this morning after looking at a map. -_- I feel really stupid now.

I thought I read somewhere that the recorder was needed. Oh well. Thank you.

One way to bump a thread without double-posting is to delete your post and then repost it. It'll come up as a new post, bumping the thread, but there'll only be one post there.

You can delete a post by editing.

This of course will only work for only one month considering you would be reviving a thread if you decided to bump a thread up. And of course, us mods can see deleted posts, so we can tell if you've purposely been bumping a thread for your own needs.

Sometimes using ZU's official LoZ Walkthrough can be helpful (especially during those down times you have waiting for a responce from another member on the forum).

Tips for ALTTP

Hey guys, I remember the first Zelda game I ever played was OoT, followed by MM, TP, WW, PH, etc. I would consider myself a real zelda fan, with one problem. I haven't really played much of the 2d games. I don't have a gameboy so oracles is out, and i only have a dsi, so no gba slot.I want to expand my tastes and play at least one old school zelda (ALTTP is argued to be one of the best in the series), so I downloaded ALTTP gba version on my computer and I am getting WOMPED! I probably die about 30 times a dungeon (first dungeon of dark world). By the time I reach the boss, I have about 3 hearts, and one hit kills me. I am trying to stay away from walkthroughs so I can say I truely beat the game, but some tips to help stay alive would be great.

well I was in the same predicament as you. First Zelda was OOT, then played all the 3-D games. i actually just beat ALTTP a couple months ago on the Wii. I'll admit, it takes some getting used to. Its a whole other way of playing. I started by taking on an enemy at a time. Make them come to you. Dont get multiples. Thats how i died so many times. I know its not much, but i thought anything might help.

As you may or may not know, every Zelda section forum comes with a stickied Gameply Help Thread for each of the games.

*Merged Thread into Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help thread*

Ah yes, the Helmasaur King. If you're having difficult with this boss, then I'd highly recommend you do some preperations to boost your life meter like collecting heart pieces, finding three out of the four magic bottles, and the Bug Catcher's Net given to you by the sick boy in Kakariko Village (to catch fairies and bees, but for this instance, you need the Net to catch fairies. Catch fairies with the net and put them in the bottle. They will revive you and fill 7 of your hearts if you ever fall in battle).

The most important thing you should learn is to dodge his fireball attacks because as you may have noticed, he spits one ball, it splits into three, and each of those spit into four. And of course, watch out for his whipping tail. Now as for how to defeat him, there are actually two ways.

1. Throw bombs in the location he's going to walk over (so that the bomb will explode underneith his body). Do this successfully three times, and his mask will fall off!

2. Use that new Magic Hammer of yours and whack his Helmit 20 times until it breaks off.

I'd recommend using the first approach if you have good timing with throwing bombs. If your bomb bag is still little (meaning it can only hold up to 10 bombs) and you don't have great timing, then I'd recommend going to Lake Hylia (in the Light World) and go to the island in the middle of the lake and enter the cave. In there, you should find a pool where you'll be able to donate money. Donate 100 rupees and a Great Fairy will appear asking if you want to upgrade your Bomb Bag or your Arrow Quiver. Each time you donate 100 rupees (you may have to exit and re-enter the cave to donate more money) she'll ask you which item should get an upgrade. Upgrade until you feel satisfactory with how many bombs you can dish out (I believe the maximum bombs you can hold is 50 and Arrows is 75. I could be wrong, but it's been a while since I've played the game).

Ok, back to the battle. However way you choose to get the mask off, that's great, now you'll see a green jewel on the Helmarock King's forehead. This is his weakspot. Get up close and use your sword to swipe at his weakspot, or you can use the distance approach and shoot it with your arrows. All you have to do is hit him 7 times and he's down for the count.

Really this boss isn't as difficult as I may make him out to be. In the long run all you have to do is: Dodge, use three bombs, and then strike his weakspot 7 times.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

I feel so stupid for posting this, but whatever. I searched the forums for help and didn't find any threads containing my problem, if I missed them I'm terribly sorry.

Last night I went out and bought a NES from a shop called "Vintage Stock" which sells comics, old game systems and such. So I was in there, got the NES, bought some games like T&C Surf Designs and California Games and of course The Legend of Zelda. The console itself works great, the other games are in perfect working condition, except Zelda.

The game will turn on, it says press start so I do. The only options it gives me after that is "Register Your Name" and "Elimination Mode". I can't go up to the names already put into the game (which are all "W"'s for some reason =\) and once I register my name, (which is Justin) it says "JQSTIN" So with my registered name, I figure I should be able to start the game, but no! It still will only let me register and eliminate.

The store gave me a 30 day guarantee so if it's flat out broken, then I'll take it back and get my money back. I was wanting the original Metal Gear anyway...or I'll buy another copy. I'm hoping it's just me being a complete loser and not realizing what I have to do in order to play the game. I haven't played it since I was 6 or 7 so I don't doubt it's something I'm doing, but IF it is the game itself, no worries.
