Don't panic. The candle is in Parapa Palace. You only cross one cave in the dark to get there, and there's only one baddie. (it's at the second half of the cave- look at the floor closely to see the feet). The rest is just palace fun. ^.^ Good luck!

Hey all-
My magic sword disappeared, replaced by the white sword. Where did it go, how do I get it back and why did this happen? I've searched the web for a while for an explanation, and the only reason I've gotten is that a monster from one of the dungeons got me, and I have to let it happen again to reverse the effects. Since I've go not idea when it happened, anybody have any tips? Thanks for the help- Nick |

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help
Sorry it took so long to respond to this, Nick.
Anyways, chances are that it was eaten by a Likelike. (They look kinda like dancing cakes, imo) They have the power to eat most of your items. I don't know how to get it back, though, since it's a sword. Did it disappear after you started playing again? Talk to the old man who gave it to you in the first place. If he's not there anymore, you're probably out of luck. If he's still there, then it probably means some memory got damaged and you just have to get it again. Are you using the NES cartridge or virtual console/handheld/etc? The NES games are so old that chances are it's just a memory thing and it could have gotten lost. (Mine kept deleting my games, so that's when I got frustrated and turned to other means >.>) Sorry about that! G00d luck.

The only thing I can think of would be when you get pushed towards the edge keep taping the d-pad in the opposite direction like hell. You should avoid falling if your quick enough.

Same case goes for the Pokemon Gold/silver cartridges. W/ out a good cartridge battery, you can't save game data. = \

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help
I need help on ALttP again. I just beat the Swamp Palace. Basically, using the mirror absolutely drives me insane. I can never seem to find my way over to the west side of town from the castle. I'm either blocked by trees or rivers. Is there any way to get over there while in the Dark World (not going into the forest to that portal). I was also wondering why I die so easily? I upgraded my defense and I always have two fairies on me... not to mention a ton of hearts. I can run across town, and already have lost almost both fairies. It's so easy to die in this game. I'm starting to lose my patience. lol

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help
Need big help!
Legend of Zelda NES question. I am on a Second Quest file and I have cleared everything, Standing in Zelda's Room but don't want it to reset. Anyway, how many bombs can I have total? I have found upgrades and currently I am at 16 max. Can I get more? Please only answer if you know for sure.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help
Ugh....
In LoZ, I'm at the fifth dungeon, the Lizard Labyrinth. I'm able to get past most of the dungeon just fine, and can reach Digdogger. But there is this one room in the south western corner, which contains a fleet of stairs that are the only way to get into the north east rooms where the dang flute is. But here's the catch. The room is crampt, the stairs is surrounded by blocks which none seem pushable, and the room is guarded by five blue Dark Nuts. There is no way I can defeat them all. Even three or two of them is far too overcrowded for me, yet there's no other way to get to the flute. This game has literally given me a fear of blue Dark Nuts, and without that flute, I can't beat that invincible Digdogger. I'm considering skipping this dungeon entirely. Help?

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help
Um....do you have the Blue Ring and the White Sword? Those certainly help in defeating those stinking Blue Iron Knuckles (or whatever they're called). Make sure you also have the Red Potion with you, since this can help you last longer while you're trying to kill them all. It also helps to have as many Heart Containers as you can possibly have up to this point.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help
Use bombs and finish them off with your sword. Never attack them from behind as they're too likely to turn around while you're running after them. Always attack them from the side. I can't remember the particular room you're talking about, but odds are there are blocks. Hide around a corner and wait for a Darknut to walk in front of you. Stab it once and run away.
Some might call it cowardly; I call it guerrilla warfare. They ARE ganging up on you! How's THAT fair? |

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help
Well, technically they're not ganging up on you since they're just walking around and not attacking you, but yeah, they can be a bit pain in the butt. XD I didn't know about that bomb technique, though....nice! But, they move around too much, so sometimes the bombs won't hit them, right?
Also, make sure you get the bomb upgrade in this level!

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help
You can get a bomb upgrade in this level? Well too bad, because I have to get past that room to get to the old man who is selling the bombs. And I can't really use bombs on them, because I have to always defeat three Dodongos just to get to them, and they require six bombs.
Well I have the white sword and a bigger shield. That's about it. I'm not exactly sure where the ring is, but I'll look it up on vgmaps.
