Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

There is a help thread for this. It's stickied at the top. To get to the other side, simply position yourself in front of one of those two blocks at the side, facing them. Move back a little so you can run into them. Dash into the blocks, and the force will push you across the pit to the other side.

The big G is right, andy121 (BTW, welcome to ZU). I'd suggest that you always check before crossing the road...I mean check if there's already a thread on the subject you want to talk about.

Secret is under Armos at dead end? Is this the first quest or something? I've never heard of that quote. Sorry.

First off...please do not type everything capitolized. It makes it seem like you are shouting.

Now I don't remember what the old man is trying to say but if you are interested, here's the walkthrough for the first dungeon of LoZ:

When you enter, go right. Get a key from killing one of the
stalfos (you can see one with some yellow on it). Go left 2
times and kill the Keeses for another key. Go right, then up
Kill the stalfos, then go up. Kill those sketelon dudes once
more for another key. Go right, grab the compass (Kill the bats
if you want you). Go left 2 times, Kill the bats. Go north, and
kill the gels. Go right, get the map (kill the gels if you want
to), then go right. Kill all 3 goriyas to get the wooden
boomerang. Go left and then north. Kill more stalfos to get
another key. Go north and kill the goriyas. Go left. Goto the
left side of the diamond stones and push on the leftmost stone to
get access to the stairs and grab the bow. Return to where you
got the boomerang (right, down, down, right) and then go right.
Grab the key and head north (if you get caught by the hands, you
will be sent back to the beginning). Kill the dragon by stabbing
his head (about 6 times with regular sword, 3 times with white
sword) and get a heart container. Go right, to get 1st triforce
piece.

Well according to ZU's Heart Container Guide there are five hearts that can be found throughout the game (other than the ones you get after completeing dungeons). So that makes it the ones you start out with (3), the ones throughout the game (5), and the ones found in dungeons (8), so yes there should be 16....unless I'm missing someting...

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

Thanks! I just beated the game and i found out that i didnt get a heart container for beating Ganon ( i dint even know that you got second quest ) and i think you are right because i have burned every bush, killed every, enemy, searched every spot and buyed all the item and used them when i think i needed. And after that i did have 16 heart container's so i think i didnt miss any of them.

Thanks!

I hate Adventure of Link! AWWWWW. I'm still in the first level. I hate those Knights with the sheilds. By time i get to the boss i have like one heart left. I should just throw this dam game in the trash. That's where it belongs.

saving in Zelda 1 for NES

I just pulled my NES out of the closet. I was playing Zelda 1 and noticed I could only save after I died. Is there any way to save the game without dying?

Thanks,

Under any cercumstances, never throw away a Zelda game. You can store it away to collect dust, or even sell it/give it away so others can enjoy it, but never throw it. Zelda games are a challenge, and AoL really puts that up the the test. If it's the enemies that are bothering you, I'd recomend looking into ZU's strategy guide at how to defeat the enemies as well as the bosses. May the way of the hero guide you.

The only way I know how to save is in the Collector's Eddition of LoZ. What you need to do is press Start, and then press X. I'm sorry that I can't help you out in your NES problem.

Re: Official NES/SNES Zelda Gameplay Help

Unless the walkthrough alread says this, I usually just defeat Thunderbird by activating the Jump Spell and the Shield Spell. I'm sure you know what you have to cast the Thunder Spell to make him turn blue and reveal his face. Just cast those other two spells I mentioned and avoid Thunderbird's fireballs as best as you can.

The River Zora Domain in ALttP is located North East of the Witch's hut. Once you are there, you have to go through this little "maze" without stepping into deep waters (or you'll get hurt because you don't have any flippers) while battling away River Zora. Reach to a water fall where the King River Zora will sell you the Flippers for 500 rupees.

"ok where is the place where you throw in a item and get a cooler one back"
There are two places like this. One is located before the River Zora Domain (you must have flippers and it's behind a waterfall), and the other one is in the Pyramid of Power (in the Dark Realm, and judging from your questions, I'm assuming you aren't that far into the game so nevermind).
