Re: The Original Zelda was just perfect

Yay! You just refraised what I already knew! Congrats you just won the PimPSlaP seal of approval.
Also I would like to make a little note here that although LoZ introduced ideas made into the main formula for each game (along with AoL). I can't help but feel ALttP is the one with the profected formula. That is what makes LoZ special because there wasn't anyone to guide your way to dungeon, or find the blue ring. It made the game feel like a real adventure.

Sounds like you need a map

I love the first. It is my favorite. The only thing I don't like and it isn't the actual game. It is when I forget to hold the reset button and I lose all my memory.

I agree with the OP. The first Zelda was great. It was really a great way to start off the series. :]

I think I'm gonna go play it on my Wii. (:

I havn't beat it, but I think I have finished 3 dungeons so far. It's actually pretty diffuclt though since there are always barrages of enemies that never leave me alone!

I also loved the freedom it gave you from the very start of the game. I think they should bring the open ended design back to newer games.

Re: The Original Zelda was just perfect

I know Link's movement pattern is programmed to relate to the enemies, but his controls feel
a little stiff... I prefer the sword swing in Link's Awakening to LoZ.

That's an arguable point, but LoZ really could have had some dialogue throughout the game, Final Fantasy did...

They really should. In OoT and TP you need specific items to explore each new area.
What happened to wandering everywhere before you have the tool you need?

The level 2 boomerang could be thrown diagonally in the original.

Re: The Original Zelda was just perfect

lots of NES games had diagonal movement. Such as TMNT 2 or Battletoads

LoZ was one of the best in the series, as free dungeon exploring, secrets everywhere, dungeon lengths, bosses, original story, and Zelda Classic.

It's a really fun, great game, but it's nowhere near perfect. I wish the story was more than premise.

It was an NES game. The only way they could make a story back then was through the manual, which they did btw.

One hell of a story I might add!
Oh and you can't forget the Backstory of Zelda II! Regardless of your thoughts on the game you know it had a kick ass back story!

Oh, it was perfect for an NES game. It is very addictive and entertaining. It's almost hard to quit.

The only way to be able to mentally say "I quit" is to beat the game.
