What would you subtitle the original LOZ?

I'd go with Legend of Zelda: The Really Hard Game

The Legend of Zelda: The Biforce
The Legend of Zelda: The Legend of Link
The Legend of Link: The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda: The first LOZ ever despite NOT being the first game in the timeline!
The Legend of Link: The guy in lame green clothes is called Link, NOT Zelda, dammit!
The Legend of Link: Introducing the first (and last!) brown-haired Link in the series!

The Legend of Zelda: Don't try and make a timeline out of this because you'll just go insane.

and to the person who had no idea why they named the game A Link To The Past:
They named it such because it was said to be a prequel of sorts to the first two Zelda games..during its release it was reported that that game took place 100 or so years before the first Zelda, hence the name...

2. The Legend of Zelda: Saviour of Hyrule
3. The Legend of Zelda: The Beginning
4. The Legend of Zelda: Birth of a Hero
5. The Legend of Zelda: Link, the Saviour

"Legend of Zelda: 8 Bits of Awesome", cause I still enjoy olaying the original.

No, Nintendo of America named it that to avoid any references that could be considered religious in the title of the game (the title in Japan being Triforce of the Gods) and because it "sounded cool."

Gotta go with Triforce of the Gods on this one, I've read this on many other resources.

Seriouly, I can't think of anything. This and the second game were too generic to have a subtitle.

I think it should be left alone or Hyrule Fantasy works too

Legend of Zelda: Ganon slayer

If I had to put my spin on it, I'd call it "Legend of Zelda: The Rise of Ganon" mostly because we are introduced to two of the three main characters in just the title of the game, and we'd also learn that we get to pick out our own name (usually for me, it's Link) and can differenciate between the Good Princess & the Evil King and how you the player are involved in all of this.

Even though I'm against any official subtitle to the original Legend of Zelda, I think the Shattered Triforce is the best one yet. It suits it really well.

Rise of Ganon fits quite well. Shattered Triforce also.

Rise of Ganon sounds good too, but I guess that depends on your personal Timeline.

I don't think the timeline should come into play as far as subtitles go. Just the game content.

That's true. I just thought it would pend on the whole, "Rise of" in the title.
