Majora's Mask; Whats the ingame reason for loss of certain items?

As time resets you lose your expendable items such as ruppees, arrows, bombs etc. but why is no reason given (in game) why you only lose those and not your weapons or masks? In the eyes of the developers you can see why but in the game there is no reason, its just not explained.

Example; you get the postman's hat and reset time, yet you see the postman has his hat again but you still have the one you were given, two of the exact same item existing in the same time is impossible thats what I though for the reason for your expendable stuff vanishing, so how could that happen and just be left unanswered? Would it be too complicated an answer (as is my question :XD)

Discuss?

Shigeru Miyamoto: Damn he's on to us!
Eiji Aonuma: Run!

Um. You go back in time. So you lose items like arrows, bombs, etc because you technically never got them yet.

As for the masks...It'd be too hard to have to collect each one over and over again, so the developers made it so that you didnt have to

Yeah, I did mention that in my post. :XD

I meant whats the in game reason for it? As you never technically had them either but you do, why the developers did it I can see but the ingame explanation/reason I can't.

There is no ingame reason. I dont think the developers could come up with one

Maybe Link just drops crap when he goes back in time. Kinda seems that way.

Re: Majora's Mask; Whats the ingame reason for loss of certain items?

There is no reason for Link losing things such as arrows and rupees when he goes back in time. That is only a gameplay mechanic, and story-wise, Link (probably) keeps all of his stuff when he goes back in time.

Man, I've disproved this point every time I've dropped by the old folk's home.

I... I'm not allowed there any more.

If you haven't played the song of time before the moon falls then you will lose anything you haven't saved.

Exactly, and an even bigger question, how does the banker keep the money when you go back in time? And even remember you!? I do admit, MM does have its little quirks...

It is the power if the Goddess of Time, Zelda said she was watching over you, maybe that has something to do with it.

I think of it as this, as he's falling through time, he tries to hold on to everything, but the refill stuff (The stuff you lose) slips through his fingers 'cause it's to small. But that's just what I think.

It's.... magic! Link has a special time-traveller's bag for his masks and weapons, but he keeps the rupees (and arrows and bombs) in his pocket so they disappear.

I know this is not mentioned in the game but we all know it's true :XD

It's really a big scam if you stop and think for a second. Somewhat unheroic of Link.

In every sci-fi or fantasy media (games, tv, movies, etc.) that deals with time travel, many questions are left unanswered-- time travel NEVER makes sense, thats the sad truth of it. Like in OoT, how Link defeats Ganon in the future, and he's gone in the past. Or like how Guru Guru taught Link the Song of Storms, and Link taught Guru Guru the Song of Storms. When dealing with time travel, we sadly just have to accept the flaws...

Actually...If you would have played TP, you'd realize Ganondorf wasnt gone in the child timeline.

But I get your point. Time travel doesnt have to make sense in a video game. It is just a game after all
