Re: OoT vs MM: which is better?

Majora's Mask is way better in almost every aspect, except saving. The saving threw me off in the beginning. The thing that got me the most was the character depth.

In almost every aspect? You're right about character depth, and some things (not including graphics, as people mostly jabber about that one) ARE better. Like character's schedule, enviorment details and such, but most details are same as in OoT.

Re: OoT vs MM: which is better?

oot all the way.

mm was in my opinion, VERY confusing, and it didn't feel like a zelda game at all imo.

the time limit was also very frustrating.

i have to say i liked the masks, and the plot was nice, but it's still not as good as oot.

Re: OoT vs MM: which is better?

Trust me Majoras mask did push the envelope, in these ways;

- What other zelda game timed you and pushed you to your limits to finish the game efficiently?

- Majoras mask had waaay more replay value than OOT, face it, Masks, Secret dungeons (larger than Oot Grottos), Swords, Faeries, mini games, tons of misc quests. Bigger game.

-Lets not forget that Majoras mask pushed the envelope by being the first really dark zelda game. This game is unique.

Also lets not forget just how rich, and vibrant this game is, it is definately THE best Zelda game.

Cheers,

Joe

Re: OoT vs MM: which is better?

In all honestly, I really can't compare MM to OoT in the since that Ocarina of Time is just hands down the most incredible Zelda game. It was ground breaking for its time in every aspect and, to me, had the most immersive story line. Majora's Mask just felt like a side quest. One big side quest. It doesn't really move The Legend of Zelda along any further. The series and timeline would be fine without it. It also doesn't really captivate the player in the way that OoT did. At least, this is how I felt when I played it for the first time. I never really felt the need or panic to save Termina, even with the three day time limit. Which, by the way, was incredibly annoying. That's probably why they haven't done it again.

Also, Zelda wasn't even in the game. Oh, sure, she does "reteach" Link the Song of Time in a flashback. He could have just read it off someones grave, or have a random scarecrow teach it to him. But no. We have to incorporate Zelda in it somehow. I mean, it is The Legend of Zelda after all. Why not do it in the form of a pointless flashback?

I dunno guys. I gotta say, Majora's Mask ain't got nothin' on Ocarina of Time.

Re: OoT vs MM: which is better?

I think both games have a different type of appeal.

Slightly straying from the typically, love-became story of link saving zelda and all of Hyrule, MM offered the slightly variant story-line with deepened side-quests. In my opinion, the game seemed like one big side-quest right from the get-go. I mean, wasn't the happy mask shop a side-quest in itself in OoT (a side-quest that may have ranked higher than others, but still wasnt the single greatest side-quest offered by OoT).

I think the reason why so many prefer OoT over MM is largely due to the innovation in the game for its time, but also the obscured story-line of MM set some people off as to why they would stray from a storyline re-known throughout the gaming world as is? OoT just has the most nostalgic feel to it, and I have a feeling that the team behind the zelda franchise understands it, because they have incorporated aspects of OoT in every major console release since its release.

Re: OoT vs MM: which is better?

I like OoT since its a classic, and has Ganon and Ganondorf as boss. Also has best original bosses.

I like Majoras mask since it has more sidequests for masks that each have an ability. Majoras Mask also has transforming masks.

Re: OoT vs MM: which is better?

Everyone says they like OoT because it was a classic, and blah blah blah. I see some of you rag on TP, though, when you say you love OoT. What's so different about TP and OoT? TP is basically OoT. :/

MM was a very deep game, and it completely absorbed you. I agree with Joe, it was the first very dark Zelda game, and it had very profound ideas and viewpoints that OoT, being not such a superficial game but not being AS deep as MM, did not have.

I prefer OoT...
Getting timed really limits your exploring capability...
And exploring is what makes up half half of Zelda I think! =D

Re: OoT vs MM: which is better?

As stated by many people, MM imo is better because of the darker feel of the game, when a game is dark like that it pushes me more to play on.

FAIL.

You have plenty of time to explore. Just because there are temples doesn't mean you have to do them. Take the first three days to explore, and THEN start the game.

They're equal to me. MM was just very interesting to me, more so than OoT. But OoT was in some ways funner than MM, so, they're like the same to me.

Well, if you count MM's extra dungeons, it's not like that.
