Majora's Mask - Goron Racing

OK, I now vow to never touch Majora's Mask again. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great, but I have just wasted over an hour trying to beat the Goron races without any success, or, to be more accurate, not any chance of winning.

We all want the guilded sword, who wouldn't? Triple the power shouldn't be sniffed at. How to get the damn thing is to win the Goron racing and I for one give up.

I counted, about 54 times I have tried (pointlessly, I may add) to win this stupid contest. Each and every time, I have been bumped off the track, bumped so I lose my momentum and the spikes that come with full speed rolling. Once, I even had the race won, when I was bumped, lost my spikes on a hill, with the finish line in sight and couldn't regain any speed.

This poll is for me to gauge just how many people feel the same about this as I do. As you can probably tell, I'm pretty pissed. I despise the Goron racing.

HA HA HA? Magic power isn't the issue here. It's the fact that I did beat this race when I first had the game, and now it's just become unbelievably frustrating, so I refuse to go back to it. I don't normally give up, I mean, it's just a game. But this is just needless aggravation.

I would just continue with the Kokiri sword, but the goal of my replaying the game is to obtain 100% items.

I loved the Goron Race. I never have too much trouble with it, except occasionally colliding with the trees or whatever. Not that hard, it just takes skill.

Nah, the race is easy. Of course, I am naturally gifted at games so....... All you have to do is stay away from the other gorons. Don't let them bump you. When they try, move away.

Re: Majora's Mask - Goron Racing

I remember always despising the Goron races. Once I'd beat Goht, no matter how many times I'd done it, and the snow would melt I'd think, "Great, it's time for that retarded race isn't it?"

I found the race to be very challenging and took me multiple times to finally beat it. I guess after doing it so many times and becoming so committed to winning, I just got used to it and eventually ended up coming in first. It took forever for that to come however, I was so damn frustrated one time that I remember throwing my controller onto the floor...

That was a while ago though. Now I can control myself... =]
The Goron races suck!

Re: Majora's Mask - Goron Racing

Well at least there's a good diversity in the opinions. I know the race takes skill, but what skill I obtained for all the times I challenged it, had no effect thanks to being bumped into stopping by the other Gorons.

Funny this, I've just had to turn Windwaker off because the same Floor Master in the Forbidden Fortress sent me back to the beginning four times consecutively. I fear I might be losing my skill in Zelda..... I hope this is just a bad day. I daren't begin the Ocarina of Time 3-heart challenge today, I don't think my GameCube could survive a 30-foot drop if I begin losing at that.

*Sigh*

Re: Majora's Mask - Goron Racing

That's weird. I never go near FloorMasters in the Forsaken Fortress. I wasn't even aware there was actually one in there.

On topic: I always ram the other Gorons on the bridge. If I can get at least one of them off, I'm happy.

Re: Majora's Mask - Goron Racing

I didn't really care much for the goron race, but I didn't hate it. LIke most people, it took me a few times to get it right, but eventually I got lucky and won (barely, but I still did)... I think have infinate patience with games. I mean seriously, I spent 2 and a half hours trying to figure out how to do the goron room on the moon. (you can just hold A, you don't have to turn ) so yeah. Maybe that's just me...

what i do is get in front of a goron and wait for it to bump me so you get a speed burst. anyway i'm more of a fan for the dirty player when it comes to races like that

Yeah, this race was kinda frustrating sometimes, but it would never take me more than 3 trys to get it right... The trick is the ramps and to knock into other gorons when you are accelerating, to bump them out of the way too...58 times? Man, I'm sorry, that is irritating, if it took me that long, I would just forget it!I do remember one day it was hard, sometimes you just have to be in the mood for that sort of thing...so maybe give it a rest and try again later... But the Gold Dust is really worth the effort, I love that sword. Well, Good Luck!

You know, I feel sorry for you. It didn't take me that long to beat the races, but it really felt like it. So I have a tip or two for you.

1: Ram the gorons, don't wait for them to ram you. If you ram them they will lose speed now you.

2: No matter how fast you are, there WILL be a goron in front of you at the last part of the race. Also, there will sometimes be a goron just behind you at the same so be careful. Just keep at it and you WILL win

HAHAHA I loved the Goron Races! They're so fun! I can probably do them over and over again. It gets frustrating after a while though, because you lose every once in a while. I love running into the other gorons too, I don't know why, I just think that it's fun.

Strange, I had no problems at all with the goron races on the N64 version, but the Gamecube version seemed so much harder (Probably the slowdown. ugh!)
