Exclamation Did this ever happen to anyone?

Did you ever save your game in Majora's Mask at an owl and then play a little bit and have to turn off your Nintendo 64? Well for those of you who didn't know this, what you have accomplished is lost. When I say "what you have accomplished," I mean that the work you did from the last time you went back in time is lost. :disappoin That happened to me four times at the same spot, and I had to redo the same part four times. It gets extremely frustrating and makes you very angry. Did this ever happen to anyone besides me? I'm sure it did.

Re: Did this ever happen to anyone?

YESSS!!! Very frustrating indeed. Before you turn of your game, make sure you do it immediately after you have saved and the opening screenshot of MM appears. NEVER and I mean NEVER turn off or reset your game while you are playing as Link, but I learned that the hard way.

Re: Did this ever happen to anyone?

Well, this never happened to me. I've never encountered a situation where I desperately needed to turn off the game and bail out, at least in this game. But thats the idea of a suspended save anyways. People get kind of confused with the whole idea of owls, but I guess I didn't. I'm used enough to the system. Never found it frustrating, but I've never needed it nor have I ever really run out of time when playing Majora's Mask as well.

Re: Did this ever happen to anyone?

No. I understood it to be a temp. save. Lots of FF games on GBA use those things. MM is the first game I played where I encountered the temp. save system.

I just pause it and leave it on. It doesn't hurt anything. And you can always play song of soaring to go to a statue.

Re: Did this ever happen to anyone?

Oh, yea. That happend to me, quite frustrating. I really didn't like the save system in Majoras mask. I think they could have done better with that. This especialy angered me when I was in the middle of a side quest, such as getting the couples mask. But I just got used to it. Now, if I know I dont have much time to play, I would rather not play MM, on a Owl save that is important.

Re: Did this ever happen to anyone?

the only thing is, saving in majoras mask became difficult as if you saved it on the third day, youd be destroyed right away of course, saving in addition to going back in time seems out of place, so i wouldnt go with it...

and i used the owl statues a couple of times, the first time i did it i turned it off after and lots my progress. ANNOYING!

that happened to me with the pirates fortress. omg i did the entire thing five times! sea snakes and all! my nintendo is pretty old, as would be most of yours, too, and if you knock it accidently, even slighly, it will freeze up, too. that also grinds my gear!

Yes, if I even tug at the controller slightly the game freezes. Annoying!

Re: Did this ever happen to anyone?

It never happened to me, I read and understood the owl statue, also how often do you need to restart your games? I never do that. I wish you could temp. save anywhere though, it would mean you couldn't cheat by restarting and it wouldn't get frustrating!

Re: Did this ever happen to anyone?

I think they warned you about it before you saved, or maybe I read it off the booklet. It did happen to me sometime, but I was well aware it was gonna happen.

Re: Did this ever happen to anyone?

Well, I've never had to bail out of MM right away without saving, at least after I got the Song of Soaring... Beofer that you can get your stuff back pretty quick anyways, but there was one time when my dad got mad at how long it was taking to asve (he has a real problem with games you need to save) and turned the Nintendo off... I had to do the ENTIRE Snowhead temple again!!!!! Do you know how long it took me to beat that temple? I was at the boss too!!

I never turn my game off during a 3-day cycle. I just pause the game, unplug my controller and turn off the television. Simplicity itself.

Yes, I hate that! Ever since that had happened I have been so paranoid when I do the 6 day challenge.

Re: Did this ever happen to anyone?

Well the only way to save is if you play the song of time, taking you back to the start or if you save and quit playing MM. And if you could just save it like OOT you could cheat so bad. Example you might be doing the romani rescue and stop the alien/monsters getting to the barn and you might stuff it up. Thats ok, just restart the game. See how cheap is that? Come on, don't any of you like a challenge?
