Is there actually any point in getting the Hylian Loach?

You can find the Sinking Lure often by walking/running in the grass that's around the wall.

Well the reason I caught the loach was for fun(and the fact that I did it) and I'm one of the lucky ones to catch it without a sinking lure because I've only just found it in my game. Also there is no previous requirements to get the sinking lure it's just a matter of finding it.

My brother told me the loach would eat you if you caught it. I caught it and immediately turned the game off.

Looks like you're Nintendo 64 wasn't vaccinated for the triforce fever, I had mine done and I got the triforce, but I have no pictures because i have no camera.

I've never caught this Loach, only a fish that weighed 21 pounds, withOUT the sinking lure I will happily add.

I caught the Loach just last week, weighed 32 pounds. There isn't really a big point in doing it, but it makes you feel like you've completed everything in the game (if you've taken everything else). I guess it's just the satisfying feeling of having caught the Loach.
Here's how I did it...


First I played the sun song OUTSIDE of the fishing place, and went in the exact moment that the cuccoo made the sign of morning. (During it's cry)
Then I went in, got a fishing rod, ran straight to the log (didn't find the sinking lure), then to the little stream, and ran AROUND every rock (even those near the walls) and found it. It only took about 40 seconds to find it, so it shouldn't be to hard people...

Anyway, then I equipped the Iron boots and the Zora tunic, and walked into the water. From there, I looked carefully around, until I found it going up for air, then back to the bottom of the pond.
If you can't find it, go out, play the sun song, and go in at the exact moment of night. There's an 80% chance it'll be there if you do it right, so you should find it at least the second time.

Then I just kept tossing at it, and had the bait lying right in front of his face until he took it. (And he goes up for air, so you have to follow his movements).
It took about an hour just to get him to take the bait, he's really stubborn.

that is NOT true. i found the lure with only a 12 pounder caught.
the lure is invisible, you have to keep wandering around until you find it. i found mine on top of the log sticking out of the water

I have never caught the Hylian Loach. I know that you can catch it, but it just seems impossible for me to catch.

Well if you do the gold scale as child glitch with a 10 pounder then thats the only way to get the heart piece. Other than that, only bragging rights.

So you can brag to the friends you would have had if you didn't spend so much time trying to catch the darn thing in the first place...

I agree with the previous posts. Those bragging rights are darn hard to come by.
