Zelda II is pretty cool, good sirs and madams. It is my sacred duty, above all else, to defend this game wherever opinion should challenge its rightful place as the ninth or tenth best Zelda game.
Unlike most Zelda games, Zelda II had some pretty challenging puzzles. Most of them involved Ironknuckles stabbing you in the face. Music was dope, as was the combat due to its "Every enemy is a puzzle." presentation. The story was about as good as Sleeping Beauty, and perhaps even a little better: Did Sleeping Beauty have wish granting triangles? I thought not!
The sidescrolling paved the way for a couple of good clones called Battle for Olympus and Faxanadu, only one of which is as enjoyable as this game. Its difficulty is just a hair too hard. I think
ALttP is perfect difficulty, with the "not too easy, not too hard" approach.
