Something odd about Adventure of Link

This my little question. Why we need to awake the Sleeping Zelda?,if we rescue the newer one in the prequel. Why Hyrule would need to have TWO Zeldas, but each one would have sons,so then two more Zeldas(descedants of the Zeldas previous mention)?

This is a little strange,is not?

Re: Something odd about Adventure of Link

I can't add much to that other than saying that is a really good question haha, maybe that was planned badly and it's just a hole in the timeline. Otherwise, there must be some reason. I don't really know where to suggest a place you could find an answer, but maybe the thread on timeline theories would have something. I'm just guessing here, but it might be worth a look.

She's a living history book.

Also something odd about that game are the invisible people in some of the houses. Even if you have the Cross you can't see them.

I would assume the sleeping Zelda would have to give up her leadership. That goes for her child as well.

Re: Something odd about Adventure of Link

"Why we need to awake the sleeping Zelda?" What a mean question. She's doomed to sleep forever if you don't help her, and you'd leave her there 'cause she has no use? Wow. Maybe Hyrule doesn't need two Zeldas but it's a little evil leaving her in stasis just because you don't know what else to do with her.

She's been asleep for centuries and therefore doesn't know what's happening in the world currently or how things work anymore. The present Zelda does. Seems pretty natural that the present Zelda keeps ruling Hyrule since she knows how, while the sleeping Zelda could maybe keep the title of princess or take another noble title, and do whatever she feels like doing. Help the present Zelda, go around the country to show the people the higher ups care about them, maybe write a new history book about her time, or just chill, whatever nobles do.

That's because Link wouldn't be a hero if he didn't do it.

Re: Something odd about Adventure of Link

Hahahaha! That's the first time I've ever come across that question... I never thought of it.

Apparently, Link wasn't required to awaken her; it was just a means to prove that he was worthy of the entire triforce by giving him an opportunity to do something good with it.

Maybe it was just out of good will? Like Link is a Hero so it would make sense for him to save this older Zelda. He wouldn't just leaver her would he?

For what it's worth, Nintendo Power's OoT strategy guide summarized the stories of the previous game and referred to the Zelda in AoL as the same indivdual from the first game. Probably not canon, but it makes more sense.

Nintendo of America tends to think we're too stupid to know that there are several Zeldas and several Links. They also claim that the Link in ALttP is the same one in OoT.

What kind of question is that? You're trying to wake her because she's been put into an eternal sleep against her will. What other reason do you need?

It's really not that bad of a question at all. The king's spell was cast before Zelda was cursed to sleep, and so it would have manifested itself regardless. Link totally could have gone through the palaces and obtained the triforce without ever even knowing Sleeping Zelda's backstory.... in fact, he wasn't even required to wake her up.

Re: Something odd about Adventure of Link

Well I thought there were multiple reasons... The Zelda from Zelda 1 was rescued and whatnot, but Impa tells him the story of "The Legend of Zelda" who was put to sleep. The only one who has the ability to save the legendary princess was Link, who defeated Ganon, and who possessed two pieces of the triforce already. Plus, Ganons minions were after his blood. He had to do something to stop it.

I'm pretty sure I would also risk my life to have a threesome with two princessess in his place.

Yes, but why did Sleeping Zelda need to be awakened? She was totally insignificant in the overall scheme of things. Awakening Zelda was more of a side favor, than a required mission. The story would have been just as solid without her because there was already a princess.

Re: Something odd about Adventure of Link

Going on a quest just for more power doesn't really seem to be a very heroic thing. Unless he was questing for the ToC just to make Ganon's minions stop roaming the land. Though you'd think having two triforces would make him powerful enough to defeat any organized group of evil.

Also getting the ToC out of hiding could do more harm than good. If someone could steal the ToP or ToW, then if they stole both, you at least have one more piece to get if you can find it.

Link was implored by Impa, he doesn't really need any more motivation. A princess, a LEGENDARY princess, has been cursed to eternal slumber, the only one who can save her is Link, and an ancient scroll that only he can read tells him he is the chosen one that the world has been waiting for for centuries, LET ALONE he's a complete badass who just slaughtered the Prince of Darkness and saved the world. Why WOULDN'T he do it??? he's not the type to sit back and relax. This is probably just what he has been waiting for. Plus, unifying the Triforce is pretty much the most awesome thing a person can do in the universe. Motivation granted

Yeah, you both are right, but it's still kinda weird that there are now two Zeldas walking around the castle.

Hence why I subscribe to Nintendo Power's explanation.
Seriously, screw the canon, having it be the same Princess in both games makes a ton more sense.
