The other Goddesses...

Alright... So.. Who exactly is the Goddess of Time?

And what about that Goddess from the desert? (or Deity?) I guess the Gerudos worshipped her or something? There's that huge statue of her in the Spirt Temple.

First off, please don't double post. You aren't a newbie, you have 300+ posts, you know better than that.

Secondly, sometimes topics to threads aren't interesting to people, so they don't respond. Plus give a thread time for it to give you a responce.

Thirdly, if you are going to be that rude, maybe you don't deserve to have your question answered. I have my own theories about who these two goddesses are being refered to, but I'm going to see if anyone else will respond to your rudness.

Re: The other Goddesses...

The goddess of the sand could very well be Ganondorf's real mother as his surrogate mothers were Kotake and Koume. The gerudos often refer to Ganondorf as a god, so they could also refer to the bearer of the male child as a goddess.

Then again it could be the very first leader of the gerudos and after her death they constructed a giant sand palace in rememberance of her, like how the Egyptians did with fallen kings and such.

The goddess of time could just be a parrable, in which Zelda was just hoping that time would be on his side. It could have just been a metaphoric saying going on the concepts of time oriented abstracts to show it has no vivid form. Then again there may have just been a fourth goddess, who knows.

Re: The other Goddesses...

The Goddess of Time is a real Goddess in the series. That guy who give you the biggest wallet in MM, if you walk back in, prays to the Goddess of Time, and also Tatl prays to her after you've reclaimed the Ocarina. Also, the Gerudos have never referred to Ganon as a god, as far as I'm concerned.

I've read somewhere about the Gerudos, 'They worshipped him like a God.'

Re: The other Goddesses...

Thanks for the tip Link Messiah.
Okay, my internet connection is finally working again so I'll try to generally rewrite what I was going to post here yesterday.

The Goddess of Time- My guess is that she exists. Zelda and Tatl both pray to her, and those two probably have a deep understanding of the gods of their world since Zelda has access to all the collective knowledge of the Royal Family and Tatl is a supernatural being herself. But that's just an assumption; the best evidence of the goddess' presence is that she answers Zelda and Tatl's prayers and saves Link. In Ocarina of Time, Link could play the Song of Time and often nothing would happen, but when he desperately needs more time in Termina, the goddess seems to act through the Song of Time to aid him. It's not solid evidence, but I think it's at least plausible.

The Goddess of the Sands- Sheik mentions this goddess when she tells Link where the sages are, and we see two colossal statues of her in the desert. And that is all the evidence we have of her existence.
I do have my own theories about her, but they are just guesses and assumptions that can't really be supported. Read on if you're interested.
The Goddess of the Sands controls the fate of the Gerudo by controlling the desert winds. The Gerudo race built the Spirit Temple as a place to worship her so that she may have mercy on them. The two great statues in the Temple represent her two sides. The outer statue depicts her as gracious and generous, a giver of life, while the inside statue depicts her as ominous and threatening, a taker of life.
On some other thread I think someone mentioned that there was a legendary Chinese tribe of only women who were impregnated by the wind. Similarly the Goddess of Sands will at times send a wind that grants new life, which is how the Gerudo race is able to endure for generations without men. (Some Gerudos will find Hylian boyfriends, but those are unusual cases).
The goddess may also send wind that takes Gerudo lives, whether it be as a sandstorm, or as Ganondorf described it, a frigid gale that would pierce their homes at night.
In The Wind Waker's finale, Ganondorf went on to say, "No matter when it came, the wind brought the same thing...death." And when he dies (or whatever happened to him then) he says, "Heh heh, the wind...it is blowing..." Since Ganondorf is a male, the life-granting wind wouldn't reach him, so he would only know the desert wind that brings death. For that reason, he envies and despises the Hylians, who had stolen the gentle lands with the peaceful winds.
I'll even go as far as to say that the Goddess of the Sands may be Ganondorf's true mother (as The Main Man also suggested). Koume and Kotake are his surrogate mothers since the goddess wouldn't want to dwell in the living world in physical form. And Ganondorf, being the son of a goddess, has great magic powers, which is how he was able to create a curse strong enough to kill the Great Deku Tree.
The Goddess of the Sands is a dark goddess who despises the other goddesses, so she had sown seeds of malcontent in Ganondorf's heart so that he might go on to destroy that which the other goddesses created. That would open a nice parallel between Link and Ganondorf, as one has the evil Goddess of the Sands behind him and the other has the good Goddess of Time on his side.

Again, those were just my theories.
Oh, and Zelda is not the Goddess of Time because she wouldn't pray to herself.

That's great. However, in Majora's Mask when it shows her giving the Ocarina of Time to Link, she says she'll pray to the Goddess of Time to protect him.

She's not going to pray to herself obviously.

Re: The other Goddesses...

There is no proof on anything about the goddess', in my thoughts, they could be religions of the Race, think about it, China has Buddhism (sp?), The Muslems, Hindus, al different religions, who's to say they're all right? For all we know, it's a stupid made up religion that the Gerudos made up because they had to believe in SOMETHIGN didn't they? for all we know, that is the real religion of Zelda, now consider this... in WW there are visible gods, but then again, who's to say they are gods? maybe they are only viewed as gods... The only gods we can believe in imo are the Nyru, Din and Forore... Because we've seen the Triforce work, which was supposubly their creation. That in itself could also be a huge lie... which leads me to say, this is a Fan-Ficticious Thread. I believe it is impossible at our state to get any farther with this topic.

Re: The other Goddesses...

She is in Ocarina of Time the 7th sage, which is probably the most important one. She therefore, probably is called "The Sage of Time" She obviously is somehow related to the Goddess Of Time as an attendant. But she doesn't control the tides of time.
