What do you think happened to Link after Majora's Mask?

I'm pretty sure he continued his quest to find Navi... then what? Did he go back to Hyrule and settle down? Did he just, disappear from the face of the earth like an old western hero? Did he get lost in the Lost Woods and turn into a Stalfos?

I posted somewhere a very long winded monologue about what I thought should happen. Link should continue on his quest to find Navi, do something heroic, then return to Hyrule or go into exile having failed in his mission to find Navi. Either way, I don't want him finding Navi, because he doesn't need her telling him how to save the world. He's done it before. I would want to end with Link standing over a carving in a tree of him and Navi doing something together, then him shedding a tear or two to make him see human, then to have him walk away.

He got lost in the Lost Woods and transformed into a Skull Kid.

I'd like to think he settled down and married Malon but you would expect to hear that from a fangirl lol.

And if he didn't, then I suppose maybe he had taken a break from 'saving the world', and was doing small errands for the townsfolks. Killing poes, delivering Lon Lon Milk for Talon, helping that lady in Castle Town find her dog, etc. lol.

Or he's enjoying some bombchu bowling. lol.

Link probably gave up and went back to Hyrule or started a new journey without Navi.

I think he got lost in the woods. And became some sorta forest creature.

Got lost in the Lost Woods, ran out of food and desperately ate a Deku Nut and turned into a Deku Scrub once again.

Said "♡♡♡♡ that hoe navi" went back to Hyrule found that ranch wench and took over the farm. Spent the rest of his days chillin out back smoking his own homegrown while the ranch wench, zora queen and zelda would come over for conjugal visits.


He eventually became an old man who smelled of rum and weed and spent the remainder of his days chillin.

Went back to the kokiri forest, grabbed some chips and played some ancient Hylian video games.

Couldn't be bothered to save the world when Ganon came back.

If he got lost in the forest and became a stalfos, it would possibly explain his skeleton-like appearance in TP. Not that he couldn't have looked like that just because he was dead, but there are always other possibilities.

I think that the Saria's Song piece that plays on the very last screen of the game (the 'The End' screen) suggests Link's voyage ended successfully, though, so I guess another possibility is that he went back to Hyrule with Navi (assuming she came back for him) and lived happily ever after drinking milk and cutting grass (professional lawnmower, maybe? The job pays for itself) and doing whatever he wants. Maybe he got with the Princess and kept Malon as his mistress.

He died in the Lost Woods. There's really no other explanation, although he may have returned to Hyrule. I think he either died in the Lost Woods or became a Stalchild there, or returned to Hyrule, but never found Navi.

There is no hint to him dying in the lost woods, becoming a stalfos, looking for navi, or anything. For all we know, he might have become a farmer in Lon lon ranch for the rest of his life. It's all just fan fiction.

I think that after eventually failing at finding Navi, he returns to Hyrule and makes a name training knights and heroes in swordsmanship, leading to him being buried in the Hyrule Castle graveyard as the "cursed hero," and living on past death as the Hero's Shade. I can never picture The Hero of Time falling into a life of complacency. Personally, I'm in the camp that he marries Malon and lives at Lon Lon Ranch.

A similar question would be "What do you think happened to Navi after Ocarina of Time?"

I think that Link may be ashamed of being a hero and crept away into a life of exile, coming out of exile only to save the land of Hyrule when it's needed. That could explain the hero's shade possibly... But either way, Link doesn't strike me as someone who would really enjoy being a hero for the fame, he's just in it to help people and MM was the first big chance for him to see the effects his good deeds have on people.

Given Link's "please everybody" personality, if the Princess and the farm maiden actually agreed to that, I don't think Link would think twice. I know I wouldn't. The minute I saw Malon say she was grateful for Link's help the thought just rolled into my head. Charlemagne had wives galore, no reason to think Hyrule HAS to be from a socially later time, other than the fact you never see harems.

Twilight Princess makes it clear that Link made it home successfully, made a name for himself and passed away (perhaps violently). Hyrule wouldn't call a boy who only alerted the king about Ganondorf's plans as a "Hero". There has to be reasons why his garb and weaponry went down in legend and being an informant is not that sole reason. The Hero's Bow being pretty much the same bow from Majora's Mask points to that especially.

Either, He returned to Hyrule and settled down since thats whats implied at the end of MM. Or he got lost in the lost woods and turned into a stalfos, since when TP comes along its suggested the guy who teaches Link the moves is the OOT/MM link, and hes a skeleton. Though granted it could be his remains rather than stalfos transformation

I don't like that idea. Having a hero who's saved Hyrule and Termina turn into a Stalfos just seems wrong. And I like to believe that the Skull kid found Link and guided him out of the woods. The Skull kid considers Link to be a friend, I think.
