For the hundredth time. Those are NOT gold cart only. I have a gray cart with those.

Re: The Little Known Facts About Majora's Mask/Ocarina of Time

I read in Nintendo Power that OoT was the game that introduced the Lock-On targert system. Some of the creators of Super Mario 64 also helped with the production of OoT.

The arch going into Romani Ranch is the same sprite as in OoT, and when translated still reads "Welcome to Kakariko Village"

Re: The Little Known Facts About Majora's Mask/Ocarina of Time

Windmill Hut Paradox

A time paradox is created in Ocarina of Time. According to Guru Guru, Link played the Song of Storms as a child to speed up the windmill, yet Link is taught the song by Guru Guru as an adult. Because of this, it is not clear exactly how Link originally learned the song to have played it to Guru Guru in the first place.

Beta Great Fairy

BetaGreatFairy.jpg

The crystalline appearance from the (beta version) of the Great Fairy in Ocarina of Time was later sought out to be the inspiration for the Wind Waker's Great Fairy concept. Note: This picture is clickable to view a bigger version of it.

Smaller Facts (Majora's Mask)
  • Sonata of Awakening's intro is relatively similar to the melody in Twilight Princess to summon a hawk.
  • There is a total of one hundred and twenty possible combinations of passcodes to enter the Bomber's Hideout.
  • Close observation of the Stone Tower Temple's dungeon map reveals that once the red emblem is hit with a Light Arrow, the temple not only flips upside down, but it mirrors itself as well.

Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask Blunder (No.1)

(Legacy) Majora's_Mask_Screenshot1.jpg

I discovered this while playing this game on the emulator and I then took a screenshot of it. In Majora's Mask, Tingle is holding his clipboard upside down. It is clearly noticable because the map drawn on it in general, is upside down. It is the same thing, as for the other side as well. Mistake perhaps? Note: This picture is also clickable to view a bigger version of it.

I hope to post more interesting facts soon. . .

Proof? I think it is far more likely that the beta Great Fairy was based on the ones from ALttP.

Edit: this is just my opinion on the matter. I never heard that before.

If you still don't get it, here is a more explained version for you...

Link enters the Windmill Hut as an adult, where Guru Guru teaches him the Song of Storms, which he says messed up the windmill seven years ago when some kid played it. Then in the past, Link plays the song inside the windmill, causing it to speed up, thus "teaching" Guru Guru the same song Link had learned from him in the future. Because of this, the question of who originally composed the song remains a mystery.
You basically just repeated yourself.

Also, did you know?...

If you have an unneeded item like the receipt for Biggoron's Sword (Claim check), you can use that slot
to have a fifth empty bottle for any usage. All you have to do is go out with a bottle and swipe to catch
something. Before you actually get it, press start and swap the bottle with the other item. This will replace
the item with a new bottle, which is fully functional. Make sure you will never need the replaced item again
because once you have swapped it, it's gone forever.
One thing about that. It doesnt really effect anything but if you use the bottle glitch on the Goronsword receipt, a small glitch appears on the Subscreen map. The map will continuously point somewhere as if the trading game is still going on. Atleast that occurs in my version.

Yes. Its just the first versions of OoT that have all that Islam stuff in it. Mine does. Doesnt matter if they are gold or not.

Beta Great Fairy image is neat but is it me? Or does Link look like hes got a wooden shield from TP on his back?

How many of you guys know the old Swordless Link glitch? Ok this doesnt seem to work in any other versions of the game except those that have the Islam references. i.e version 1.0. Basically what you do is get to the battle with Ganon when he knocks your sword away, save and quit and start the game again and Link will not have his sword equipped. There were a lot of crazy glitches one could do with Swordless Link.

I did read there is a way to have this one work in all versions of the game but its a helluvalot trickier. (look it up.)

Re: The Little Known Facts About Majora's Mask/Ocarina of Time

Well, despite having the Islamic references, I need a workaround for the Swordless Link glitch to work. I need to use the items as an ocarina glitch, then play the Sun's Song to have the cutscene play a second time, then I can save and quit, otherwise, Link will still have his sword on start up.

Granny the potion-maker in OoT has a pet tiger cub. In MM, her alternate universe equivalent (Anju's grandmother) has a tiger's face on the back of her wheelchair. I guess both like tigers.

You may have the 1.2 version or some such. Thats the way one can do Swordless Link at any version of the game. I remember doing Swordless Link glitch the 1.0 version way so i suppose thats the one i have.

Re: The Little Known Facts About Majora's Mask/Ocarina of Time

Florina has a v1.0 cart (grey or gold) while ToTG has v1.1 (grey). Both have Islamic references and Ganon coughing blood, but v1.1 has the more difficult version of the swordless Link glitch. Islamic references were removed from the v1.2 cart (grey) and all later releases (GCN, Virtual console).

Just to add to the thread, there is a Gossip Stone behind the Great Deku Tree that says "They say that one Kokiri has left the forest, but he is still alive!". It's interesting to see the Stone is certain of this (despite being wrong about Link being a Kokiri) and also breaks the Fourth Wall in another occasion.

Couldn't th stone also mean Saria?
I'm pretty sure it would be more accurate for her. She left to go into the sages chamber thing right?

I've never seen this stone though, how do you get to it?

Not possible. You need the Mask of Truth as a child to listen to what it says. Saria doesn't become a sage until Link is an adult. Plus it says "he's still alive". Saria is obviously female.

To get it, you have to walk up one of the Tree's roots and go around. Here's a video to explain what I mean.

Do you mean the one in King Zora's throne room (the one that talks about true players not using automatic Z-targeting)?

Re: The Little Known Facts About Majora's Mask/Ocarina of Time

Oh. Well if the gossip stone overheard it, do the Kokiri people know Link isn't a Kokiri?
Because they would have just meant Link if they talked about him.

I don't remember but seeing as they don't recognise Link to have grown up I guess they didn't know.

Re: The Little Known Facts About Majora's Mask/Ocarina of Time

That's exactly it, Astra!
' They say that players who select the "HOLD" option for "Z TARGETING" are the real "Zelda players!" '

Melp, I just reread the quote and think the Stone did overhear some Kokiri, since they don't know the truth about Link. But then again, the Stones seem to have amazing perception and have heard the word of the gods (ie. developers) in the quote above.

Another one is that you can jump the gate in front of Gerudo Fortress with the Cucco and a bit of skill. If the guards catch you, they don't throw you in jail, but throw you down the valley to Lake Hylia. It seems like Nintendo had this planned from the beginning. If you go to the other side of the Fortress, you'll see the other gate is blocked by a woman. Go through the Haunted Wasteland as a kid from Desert Colossus (yes, it's possible) and talk to her. She says exactly the same thing as the one in Gerudo Valley.

Gerudos take no chances!
