A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
I have a question for anyone who has played both OoT & Twilight Princess.
I have never played Twilight Princess or any other wii game. How similar are they in story line ?, is Twilight Princess just Oot with rev up graphics? does the story has a similar structures ? Any info from someone who has played both would be appreciated. I know the first time I completed OoT I felt so disappointed that the game/my quest was over I started a new game right away! |

Re: A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
I enjoied TP very much. It's similar to OOT because is a pretty straight sequel to it, so you'll not find huge changings in gameplay or storyline. It's a very good zelda title, following the classic OOT's style and adding some new cool stuff (wolf transormation, horseback battle, new items, etc).

Re: A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
OoT is a much better game than TP, but if you really want to play it go ahead, I just warn you to rent it before you buy it seeing as some people like it, yet some don't.
TP and OoT are similar in a few ways. Gameplay is the same, both stories are relatively the same, and the dungeons follow the same path also. OoT pulled everything off almost perfectly, but for some reason TP didn't. To me it's really just a bad OoT copy that tries its best to be epic, but to ultimately fail. But I go back to what I said in my first paragraph, rent it before you buy it.

Re: A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
They're similar in having a Master Sword, the elemental dungeons, Link in a green tunic is now apparently tradition, (also in WW) and Ganondorf is back again.

Re: A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
If gameplay is the most important thing in a game for you, Twilight Princess is the better game. Sure, OoT has a better story and a better use of Zelda and Ganondorf, but TP is darker, with more fluid and fast-paced action, flawless controls, horseback combat, where you can now use your sword, and more minigames and sidequests than OoT, while unfortunately, TP's sidequests aren't very useful most of the time, so while TP's sidequests and minigames are in greater numbers than in OoT, OoT's sidequests are still better and offer greater rewards.
Go buy TP.

Re: A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
If you say OOT is similar to twilight princess then you might as well say all zelda games are similar.
Twilight Princess has different dungeons then OOT, has wolf transformation, more things to do, and more emotional stories. |

Re: A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
Wouldn't this belong in General Zelda, as it clashes two seperate forum sections?
TP is in itself, a good game. While it screws us theorists over to an annoying degree, it's a pretty well rationed game. It's long, and there ARE tedious fetch quests, (you get those in more than half of all modern vidogames). Definitly try it out for the experience. OoT, while I would admit is a tad hyped up and overrated, it WAS a marvelously revolutionary game, bringing Zelda into it's first ever 3D form. It's a classic you can't miss if you want the title "Zelda Fan".

Re: A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
Twilight Princess is a good game but it's not as good as Ocarina. I don't think it and OoT have that similar of storylines, even if they both have Zelda and Ganondorf in them. Still there is a good chance you would like it. If you're worried you won't you could always rent it first

Re: A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
Thanks for the responses everyone. I find it interesting that most people think that OoT is a better game. My own OoT story can be found here. http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/2987028-post1.html
I guess what I really want to know is it worth buying a wii just so I can play Twilight Princess. |

Re: A OoT vs Twilight Princess question
If Super Mario World is considered a better game than the original Super Mario Bros, Twilight Princess is a better game than Ocarina of Time. The only reason anyone would say otherwise is due to nostalgia.
Final Boss:"Ganondorf was tacked on in TP. Zant should have been the final boss" Ganon was tacked on in OoT. He transforms, but that form isn't even permanent. He just goes back to Ganondorf, so what's the point? It should've ended with Ganondorf. Items:"TP has worse items than OoT." All the good items return for the most part. The Hook/Clawshot, the Bow, the Iron Boots. The Megaton Hammer is now infinitely more useful as a Ball and Chain, and Fire/Ice/Light Arrows are replaced by the much more devastating Bomb Arrows. Hm, Hover Boots and Mirror Shield or Spinner and Dominion Rod? Don't act like they're the most useless things in Zelda. The Hover Boots and Mirror Shield were mostly useless outside their Temples, the only exception being Ganon's Castle. Though the Spinner received little use, it WAS fun when it was used. The Dominion Rod just flat-out sucks though. |
