Oni Link's sword?

Did you notice that the sword of Fierce deity link looks like this symbol?

Does this mean anything?
And why has oni link these symbols on his armor?Like the moon and the triangle.Does the triangle present the complete triforce or the triforce piece of courage?

Oni Link's Sword is in shape of a double helix.

That symbol is the infinity symbol.

Re: Oni Link's sword?

I think that the moon and triangle symbols are relevant, but to what meaning, it's difficult to discern. I have heard theories that claim Fierce Diety's sword is shaped in that fashion to represent the unity of two forces, or infinity. The differing symbols would reinforce the former, I suppose, but it is largely speculation.

I did notice that ingame the 'helix sword' doesnt even appear to have a proper hilt; It seems to be one piece of metal, bent around itself and reuniting at the end of the blade.

Re: Oni Link's sword?

I think his sword looks like that because Final Fantasy VII was so popular.

Re: Oni Link's sword?

Even from other forums that I have been on in the past, they have always referred to it as the double helix sword, some would make fun of it and say, "It's the DNA Sword". Ha, right. But I suppose it could also mean infinite or infinity, infinite power perhaps?

Isn't FD link's sword the Termina Counterpart to hyrule's master sword?
Most people seem to call it the double Helix sword or the Infinity sword.

Re: Oni Link's sword?

Something tells me it has to do with the fact that he's so powerful. Considering his sword looks like the symbol for infinity like you pointed out Phoenix it could mean his power is infinite(well maybe not infinite but he's probably very powerful). Also why am i reminded of a Sheikah when i look at him?

Every single sword in FFVII is either a katana or giant, whimsical, and structurally unsound. This falls into the latter category.

Re: Oni Link's sword?

I agree that the sword may mean infinite power, hence the shape. But as for the symbols on the armor, I wouldn't think it means much of anything. People read into things a little too far sometimes, the designers probably just thought they were cool looking.

Re: Oni Link's sword?

^Perhaps to an extent, but the yellow triangle is quite a conclusive symbol within Zelda. The moon symbol is difficult, but I have always entertained the idea that the triangle represents Hyrule and the Moon, Termina. All speculation of course, but I think Nintendo creates content with slightly more than asthetics alone in mind.

Not everything has to be related to FF.

There's alot of games that are popular with swords of various designs/shapes/sizes.

I also doubt Aonuma would look at a 3 yr old game for inspiration.

Re: Oni Link's sword?

He didn't, for the most part. He just ripped off the "ridiculous giant sword" aesthetic.

Re: Oni Link's sword?

He couldn't have ripped off the idea of the 'ridiculous giant sword', because what else would you expect a FIERCE DEITY to use? a dagger? a short sword? no, and no. It has to be a sword fit to show the growth he has accumulated over the course of the game, thus the infinity sword.

Hmmm, that does make a bit of sense. And I also think it would be nice if there was meaning behind it, although I am a tad skeptical.

Yes I am, because FFVII is for 3 year olds. Did I offend you? Oh my!

...If you'll look at the release dates of the 2 games, you'll see that Majora's mask was released 3 years after FFVII, of course, this is the release, and not the planning stage, but since that info is not publicly available, we'll just go with release dates(Although one could speculate that making a game takes 2-3 years so that when Aonuma started on MM, that FFVII was just released, but let's not go into the messy stuff).
