However, the beauty of the story in Majora's Mask is it's focus on innocence and the manner in which misunderstanding and doubt can destroy it, and friendship with it. Ocarina focused upon more simplistic themes. Whereas Ocarina portrayed Link in an epic light, Majora's Mask humanised him, and taught the player more important lessons. That is why I prefer it - wether or not the plot itself is of higher quality, and it truly is arguable, Majora's Mask had a focus that was simply more important. |

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
You people try too hard to make 'Majoras Mask' sound better then it really is. Yes it is a good game, but some of these points are just plain biased views.
Let's compare the plot; MM plot is basically about Link being dragged into some unknown world and he must save it from destruction from some insane maniac who is trying to crush it with the moon and doesn't give a damn about anything. Yeh and here you have a little boy trying to save the whole world. OOT on the other hand, Link is told about Ganondorf’s intentions and what he intends to do with hyrule if he gets hold of the triforce. Because of Link he gets hold of part of the triforce and uses its power to turns it into a wasteland, well most of it. Link cannot defeat him as a child so his soul is trapped in some unknown place world until he is ready or old enough to fight/defeat Ganondorf. This is where you have a genuine warrior trying to save hyrule rather then a little boy. It just sounds a lot more believable, a much better plot imo. Oh yeh, the final boss battle in OOT is far better, epic and more memorable then MM. |

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
OoT is WAY better than MM. MM just annoyed me with its three day phase, although the boss is way cooler. Not to mention, MM got almost no publicity, and no one has it.

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
Are you kidding? Majora's Mask was highly praised among the gaming community. It sold 3.5 Million copies worldwide, it has been ranked the seventh-greatest game by Electronic Gaming Monthly, whereas Ocarina of Time was ranked eighth, Nintendo Power rated it the fifteenth-best game on a Nintendo console, The game placed 45th in Official Nintendo Magazine's 100 greatest Nintendo games of all time. Now try telling me that MM got no publicity.

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
I much prefer Majora's mask to OOT. The storyline was quite different, despite being a sequel, though I wouldn've expected that anyway. Though set in an alternate(?) reality, the story was very different. The main villian, Majora was very different from OOT's antagonist. They both had extreme power, but the sheer scale of Majora's master plan was enorous.
One could argue that destroying Hyrule and turning it into a wasteland is equal, but I think otherwise. Destroying Termina trumps corrupting Hyrule, no? |

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
Well I supose destruction wise they're the same. I like how you described about Majora. The only way to decide whether Ganondorf is better than Majora is this: In the next Smash bros, have Majora as a character
It's final smash could be bringing down a moon. Obviously not a big one, more like a massive football. Not garunteed to reach everybody. I think i'll make a thread about that. |

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
Well, it hasn't been a year since i played both. But they're both awesome. Really enjoyed them equally. Each had its own ideas even though the graphics are the same.

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
I honestly enjoyed playing through OOT more than I did playing through MM, but I liked MM's setting, story and soundtrack more than OOT.
... So while I like both of them about equally (MM has a couple more points than OOT) I figured I'd vote for the one with the least votes, which I expected to be MM... But turns out OOT has the least amount of votes right now, sorry OOT! |

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
No, It is not surprising many people just have the wrong opinion and view Majora's Mask as better. You learn to deal with it.

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
Yeah,
I like to view Majora's Mask as the better video game and think of Ocarina of Time as the better Zelda game. Thus, giving it more status in my opinion, making it the better game.I also, favor the many Temples of OoT, though and found it had a more bumpy, but better storyline then MM's smooth flowing simple story with lots of little ones on the side. |

Re: OoT vs. MM: Which is better?
Majora's Mask has always been my favourite Zelda game.
Ocarina of Time is great but what I loved about Majora's Mask was that it was a departure from a traditional Zelda story, its still a Zelda game but its a fresh new take on the mythos. I love the element of suspense and that impending end of the world scenario with the moon crashing down and killing basically everything, very well done, very dark and mature and the sub-quests were genius. |
