200 years of community service?
AWKWARD ZOMBIE
Reading that makes me think "Why do they get halos and rise in a shaft of light, instead of being dragged down into a fiery pit by demonic hands?" Any theories or explanations for this? I would understand it a fiery pit may raise the rating or something, but why have them rise in a shaft of light? It's strange.

I've seen that comic before; but I have no idea if there is any real truth in it. But, never the less, it is funny.

Re: 200 years of community service?
I'm guessing Nintendo tried to add something they thought was funny, so they had them in halos and light instead of a claw shooting out from Hell to pull them down to eternal damnation. Too bad it was only funny because I was 6 when I played it the first time.

I really think it was just for comedic effect.

Re: 200 years of community service?
Comedic effect is most likely the right answer, but I'll attempt to give a more serious answer.
Hyrule's religion is vastly different from our real-world religions. (Halos and shafts of light are just a stereotype anyway). For all we know, Koume and Kotake weren't damnable by their religious standards. They were certainly evil, but that's not necessarily an offense in Hyrule's religion. Quote:

So even though Twinrova is evil, they may have been sent to "heaven" (or Hyrule's equivalent) anyway because they followed whatever citeria was necessary in their religion. We aren't told what happens to people in Hyrule when they die, but for whatever reason, Koume and Kotake went into shaft of light with halos. Good or evil, they still followed Hyrule's religious customs.

Really, comedic effect is the right answer. The whole thing is even just a set-up for the sisters to argue about their age.

Heh... I remember that comic.
Anyway... Maybe they're so evil, that the goddesses thought that the Twinrova would like it in hell/underworld, so they sendt them to heaven/afterlife.

I laughed so much when I read that comic
![]() Oh and on another note, Dampe also has a shaft of light and a halo when he dies...

Re: 200 years of community service?
Maybe Hyrule's religion doesn't have Heaven/Hell kind of opposites at all. Maybe they only have one afterlife, one place they all go to, good or evil. Just because the gods in this world are strict about their followers' behaviour, that doesn't mean Hyrule's Golden Goddesses are. Maybe they let everybody have an equal afterlife.

There are many real world religions that only have one afterlife destination (I think generally believing your punishment happens in this life rather than the next) so I would say that that the Zelda universe’s afterlife would probably be similar.
