Re: who wrote Rutos message in a bottle
I always assumed that she was just embarrassed about having to ask for help. She behaves accordingly in Jabu-Jabu as well; she acts as if you're INSISTING to help her, and she gives you a very hard time about it. I always just saw her as a person who didn't like to look helpless or need help, and so when Link mentions a letter from her, she denies it.

For more reading, search for the old thread. The other answer was Ganondorf.

Re: who wrote Rutos message in a bottle
i always assumed it was Gannondorf. when you stop and think about it does make some sense since the bottle was found right outside the entrance to Zora's Domain in Lake Hylia.
he wouldn't be able to put it anywhere in Zora's Domain without being spotted and i don't see how the bottle could've gotten to Lake Hylia from where Jabu Jabu was if Ruto did indeed write it. |

anyway- why would Ganondorf bother to give her a chance of being rescued? why would he care? Ganon made Jabu Jabu sick, but it was just an accident that he ate Ruto while she was trying to feed him. I'd think Ganondorf would just find it a little amusing that the zora princess got eaten in the proces. I think she wrote it, but wsa trying to make it seem like she wasn't asking for help. the big question is, how did she get the letter out of Jabu Jabu and down the river? and how long was she in there before Link rescued her?

Re: who wrote Rutos message in a bottle
Nice theory and I agree that Ganondorf was just using Link to get the stones and access to the Sacred Realm.
YouTube - The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time - Link Get Master Sword. A link to the cutscene where Link pulls out the master sword and Ganondorf tells him what he has really done . Sorry if it sound off topic by the way.

Re: who wrote Rutos message in a bottle
Out of his ass, the way I see it. It was said by a Zora that many things are carried by the river, so it ends up at Lake Hylia. His ass is in the water, bottle comes out of the ass, bottle floats to Lake Hylia where Link finds it. Luckily, the smell goes away.

Re: who wrote Rutos message in a bottle
Another thing that I think points to Ganondorf. He's a Gerudo, which means that he most likely spent his time in the desert before he went after Zelda for the Ocarina of Time. Why does this mean anything? Because the river at the bottom of the Gerudo Valley runs directly to Lake Hylia. The only waterfall that I could ever see in Zora's Fountain is the same one that blocks the connection of Zora's River and Zora's Domain, and Zora's River never connects to the waterfall in Gerudo Valley that has a Heart Piece behind it (come to think of it, where the heck DOES that waterfall come from?). Now then, it can't have gotten there from Zora's Fountain, so where else could it have come from than the Gerudo Desert?

Re: who wrote Rutos message in a bottle
But the last time you saw Ganondorf was when you looked in the window to spy on him, and later when you have all three gems to take to Zelda. I sort of think this thread should go on the theory section. Anyways it is possible that Ganondorf was at the Gerudo Valley and must've been really fast to get to Hyrule Castle. The message coming out of Jabu-Jabu's behind is slightly unbelievable due to the fact that Link was running around inside him as I agree with the others believing this. Maybe we'll never know who wrote it
.
