Room on the fifth floor of the Fire Temple
So you know how there's two rooms on the fifth floor in the Fire Temple in OoT, right? The one on the left contains the Megaton Hammer and the one on the right has something else in it. Well, this thread deals with the room on the right.
This room is pretty secretive if you ask me. I mean you can obviously see it on the map, but it sure isn't obvious how to get to it. For years my stepbrother and I were trying to figure out how to get up there and then I finally did a few years ago. I discovered the hookshot pointed platform in the one room a few floors below and above it a hole in the ceiling. The rest is obvious. If you don't know how to get up there, I'll let you in on one little important hint to doing so.
Don't forget that or else you'll be wasting some of your precious gameplay time. But anyway, you might say I should feel stupid for not noticing the hookshot point platform after a number of years, but it was up in the corner of the room above the floor in a big room. I don't think it's very easily noticed up there, at least I don't think it is. Did you have trouble figuring out how to get to this room? Discuss.

Re: Room on the fifth floor of the Fire Temple
Actually, the Hookshot will work. I've used it to get up there.

Re: Room on the fifth floor of the Fire Temple
There's at least a Skulltula up there. The only time I bother going up there is when I'm going for a complete game (and therefore need all the Skulltulas).

Re: Room on the fifth floor of the Fire Temple
There is a Gold Skulltula and a chest with a gold rupee.
To figure it out, I did what I normally do for secrets I didn't figure out on my way through the first playthrough: I used a game guide on the internet. Yeah, I'm too lazy to spend time checking every corner of the maps, so sue me .

Re: Room on the fifth floor of the Fire Temple
The funny thing about Ocarina of Time is that if you actually spend hours and hours in the game, you don't need to use a guide or walkthrough to find secrets. As Goronlove pointed out, he didn't have someone tell him about this part of the dungeon; he found it on his own.
Many secrets and hard-to-figure-out parts of the game can be figured out by just spending a LOT of time checking out every corner of the game. And a lot of interesting information can be found by reading gossip stones.

Re: Room on the fifth floor of the Fire Temple
I had a similar situation.
On my first playthrough of OOT, in the Deku Tree, I found the room with the compass on the top floor. This was only because I was still getting used to 3D games, and was walking around, looking at stuff. I only played OOT 4 years later, and could never find that room. Long story short, I only found it a few months ago.

Re: Room on the fifth floor of the Fire Temple
The first time I played through I always missed that one. Then on the next play through I managed to get to it. Anyways, isn't it weird how when you stumble upon an item, on different games, you think its just trash but it ends up being useful. Kinda like finding a secret room on the first try but can't find it the next.

Re: Room on the fifth floor of the Fire Temple
Heh, I see I'm not the only one to take a long time to get to this room for the first time. And yes, there is indeed a gold rupee in this room. I forgot about the gold Skulltula though. I was also proud of myself for finding it before my stepbrother, who's always been better than me at Zelda. Hee hee.

Re: Room on the fifth floor of the Fire Temple
I never used the Scarecrow's Song, so I don't know that room. I should really check it out.
